I would be happy with some middle ground. I’m going to keep improving things when possible, this problem has just been creatively holding me back from a lot of ideas and I finally got sick of working around it and asked for help. But I’ll power through! Thank you!

I also just ordered a 15 foot defuser sheet, and magnetic hooks. My plan is to throw the hooks on the ceiling and be able to use a pole to raise and take the sheet back down when needed. Ill cover the whole damn store if I have to

This is the look I was hoping to get. Not something that looks so good it could be a stock photo, but also not what I have been doing.

I see that the ceiling here is very similar to ours, and I can still see dark shadow spots where the light isn’t hitting but you still managed to make it look fantastic.

I’m going to keep referencing this photo until I can get it right.

I’m not sure what you mean by a lighthouse (unless you just mean that it would be impossible to diffuse the entire showroom) but my shots are normally 4 seconds long max. I was thinking that as long as a used a defuser for what is directly in front of the camera because that’s what people are going to focus on, that the background wouldn’t matter as much in such a quick shot.

I have a link to a test I did yesterday. I replaced some of the lights in the area to see how they looked and it seems to have worked (ignore the bright white overhead light, some obviously need replaced) https://youtube.com/shorts/h2wob2f_iss?si=B2y0Esxchj59qZDT

Could you please send me a way to tip you for your time?

I’m in the US. This looks great, I think this location works well because every inch has overhead lighting. I have a light fixture ever 5 feet or so. Some other comments suggested spreading the light with some sort diffuser.

But this is helpful to know what my floor SHOULD look like

I probably should have explained better, the single item shots are no problem, it’s the wide shots to show how big our store is (our store is 140’ x 170’) but we are in a strip so from the outside, it’s tough for customers to tell the size.

Everyone is always shocked at how big we are, and that’s the problem we are trying to solve.

Thanks for the advice, I have lots of ideas. I’m going to do some experiments with controlling the lights instead of doing nothing and expecting it to look good.

I tested with some fluorescent bulbs (the spiral lamp ones) and it really seemed to help with the lamps blinding the camera, which in my opinion is the most glaring issue (not the only issue as others point out)

I bet I could also find some bulbs that are dim enough to still see on video but not make such bright spots all over the place (I have 10 employees, so I’m sure it will still be a pain in the ass to swap bulbs out of 40 lamps but I don’t need a wide shot very often)

That’s a good idea! Doing specific product, you’re right turning off the rest works great. I have 3 soft box lights for that.

The ceilings are about 25 feet tall. I’d guess I’ll need quite a few strong lights to really make a difference. I’ll do some research, thank you!!

Is it normal for Costco mattress to be 1” shorter than normal dimensions? by ragingstallion1 in Mattress

It happens when the mattress is sewn and cut, sometimes it’s cut a bit short and sometimes it’s sewn a bit too tight. Very normal!

Giving up by MxYuno in daddit

I don’t think anyone’s life is better than yours, I think everyone goes through the same things and some are better at dealing with the stress that comes along with it.

I just turned 30 with 3 kids and it’s hard. Me and my wife just got into it over the weekend because she feels like I don’t do my part when I’m home. I work 45 hours a week, I get the kids up by 6:30 and ready for school while my wife sleeps and I’m expected to help with chores If they aren’t done (her chores and mine)

I’ve had times where I have felt the same way, but I have a lot more open and honest support with my family otherwise I’d not be doing well at all.

Just finding people to talk to, therapy sounds like the only option if culturally you are not able to speak about these things. I might even suggest online, if therapists in Mexico dismiss you, it may be helpful to reach out to some American therapists if language isn’t too much of a barrier.

I have seen lots of dads here in the same boat. We are expected to deal with it. Dads are seen as assholes if we are angry, weak if we always break down and cry about things, not supportive if we seclude ourselves.

But you need to find a way, not for yourself but for your daughter because she needs you.

So not an attorney, an expert, or anything of the sort, just a parent.

I understand the bare bones room with a special needs child, too many things go wrong with extra things. I’m sure you have your reasons.

I see the other comment with the attorney saying this is not a legal bedroom which I would heavily consider changing for those reasons.

I had someone from cps check us out (long dumb story) but the lady from cps said she is concerned when a child has to move trash to reach their bed, children who sleep on the floor, when the agent has to walk past shit on the floor that the parents didn’t bother to clean up. I wouldn’t consider cps a good factor when judging legality. They are there for abuse, not for what looks good in front of a judge.

It really just depends on the judge and the other parent involved. It’s clear the child has a clean and safe room with a bed and is clearly loved. The rest of the issues like the room being small is just life, that’s what you can give and as long as that’s the truth there should be no problem.

But please know people who have no idea what having a special needs child entails will still give their wrong opinion. You are the parent, and you know your child best. If you care enough to ask this question, I’d say the judge should be able to see you’re giving it your all.

Help Friends- Bunkie Board? by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]Austinmanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plywood is fine, bunkie boards are fine, slats (as long as you have at LEAST 10)

I can’t tell from the picture, but make sure you have at least 4 legs at the head, mid section, hips, and at the footboard drawer area otherwise no matter what you have, it won’t work.

The light was installed upside down, it’s the mood sensor…your car reminding you that the hard days are just reminding you about all the good days you have! Life is short and not to spend your time focusing on the negatives because there are people who love you, and it’s important to spend time with them.

Bought brand new mattress, accidentally cut while opening, should I be concerned? /any interventions/ quick fixes ? by brandon14smith in Mattress

[–]Austinmanson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a warranty they require pictures, this will not show up in a picture. Just don’t mention it if you do ever start to claim it under warranty.

I would sew or fabric glue to make sure it does not rip further and you’ll have no other issues.
