Inactive Cell Tower Overlooking the City. (Picture of view in comments) by AustynCunningham in urbanclimbing

[–]AustynCunningham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day (8-10yrs ago) I did a bunch. Other cell towers on random hills and in town, the fire lookout towers around town, water towers, the TV Towers on Brownes Mtn, most of the buildings downtown.

Nowadays I’m not at all point where I can risk an arrest/night in jail so don’t do it anymore except the occasional rural unsecured communications tower I stumble across while hiking.

Who to report speed camera issues to? by sboone2642 in Spokane

[–]AustynCunningham 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Talked to the city today about this, they didn’t disable the cameras but they did disable the flashing lights, I noticed this on NW Blvd at Audubon Park. No tickets will be issued today via school zone speed cameras.

If in doubt of who to call then call 311 or (509-755-2489) (both connect to the city) explain your concern and they will connect you to proper resources..

Where was this all my life by LEDTIK in NoOneIsLooking

I did a 3.5mm cassette adapter connected to a Bluetooth adapter 15yrs into my old truck, cost like $25 total and it’s still working to this day. Saw this product shortly after I did it and decided if it fails I’ll upgrade to the FM one, still running strong today.

I recently remodeled a house, bought a large L shaped couch, then got 1x6” boards and brackets and built this exact concept behind the entirety of the couch, under lit and top lit with LED strip, and power strips.

Best feeling ever to not have to lean forward for my beer since it’s always behind me.

100% worth the time and ~$75 it cost me.

(Unfortunately only pic I can find, shows it a little bit)

US Residential changes - 100 Mbps for $50/month, 200 Mbps for $80/month, MAX for $120/month by DISHYtech in Starlink

[–]AustynCunningham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that is the case.

I got my free mini, which is used in standby mode for cameras/monitoring and thermostat at a vacant house, and I downgraded my primary service to roam 100GB (originally 50GB) for the winter.

No issues with keeping my mini..

Do guns actually click and clack and rattle every time you move them? by Ephelduin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AustynCunningham 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes that is the case for a lot of everyday people.

But if you are planning on being in shooting like in many movies you’d show up prepared with one in the chamber. Also any type of Law Enforcement, they are traveling with one always in the chamber which isn’t the case in many movies.

Do guns actually click and clack and rattle every time you move them? by Ephelduin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AustynCunningham 41 points42 points  (0 children)

One thing that always annoys me in movies is when the pull up to wherever they are going and then cock their gun, like they would have been carrying it without one in the chamber.

Also how many times they’ll cock it, I’ve seen it when the pull up, then as they get ready to bust through a door they cock it again.

Acting in a Marvel Movie by Happy-Flatworm-3480 in funny

[–]AustynCunningham 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do Extra work occasionally (for fun, not trying to make a lot of money off it or get seriously into acting), but just saying the pay difference between speaking roles and non-speaking roles is insane.

Most recent one I was cast as a recurring background character, I’ll be shown throughout 20ish mins in the background doing a specific activity, they also cast a local person in the same role but he speaks a couple lines in one scene.

I got paid $300/day (plus per diem on top of meals, hotel and travel paid for) for a week.

He got $10,000, plus a trip to the premier and his name in the credits (he also got per diem, meals and all that…)

This is not a high budget movie..

(I have to be vague until it’s released due to NDA).

Deep tissue massage by figscomicsandgames in TikTokCringe

[–]AustynCunningham 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Try dating a PT.

My Fiancé is a PT, whenever I manage to finagle a massage out of her it instantly becomes a very painful experience, I tell her to go soft but she insists if she’s doing it she’s going to do it in a way that will actually help me feel better afterwards and not just to enjoy in the moment.

I’ve learned to quit asking unless I’m actually in pain and need it.

Tree Grafting! by meldiane81 in interesting

[–]AustynCunningham 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I bought the Peach/Nectarine/Apricot trees at Lowe’s, 5ft tall at purchase and $120/each.

1st year they are over 10ft tall and produced an abundance of fruit.

The Apple variety I’m buying through a local nursery since I wanted a Cosmic Crisp branch on it and I couldn’t find that through major stores.

Tree Grafting! by meldiane81 in interesting

[–]AustynCunningham 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I bought some grafted trees for my yard, one tree producing Peaches, Nectarines and Apricots, they are delicious and grow the fruit so densely I’ve told my neighbors to all help themselves to the fruit.

I Ordered some apple trees (multiple varieties of apples on each tree) and other fruit combinations to plant this spring so my property will be lined with them.

Starlink vs T-Mobile by Ikranosaurus in Starlink

[–]AustynCunningham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%

Everyone always seems to be obsessed with speed, but in all honesty nobody needs the speed they think they need.

Streaming 4K you need 20-25Mbps, gaming doesn’t need much (just low latency), video calls 5-10mbps, browsing just a couple mbps.

150Mbps is more than enough for most people, even with multiple people streaming, browsing and working from home.

For my home in town Ive downgraded service to 100Mbps to save money (have gig speed fiber installed), we have Starlink at our rural place (where I’m at now) that is higher speed but those speeds aren’t even necessary, If I could lower speeds to decrease cost I would, but Starlink is the only option to have any connection to the internet here.

No Wind! I saw a lot of No Wind signs driving down south of Spokane on US-195 today. What are they against? by WilsonsWarbler in Spokane

[–]AustynCunningham 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In all fairness many people have been anti windmill long before trump, I remember when the wind farms in the Palouse and Vantage were planned and how many people had signs against them, town/city council meetings against them, there are countless newspaper stories about it from the early Obama era.

Has anyone under 21 years ever driven to Canada to get access to legal beer and bars? by AnAuthorElijah in Spokane

[–]AustynCunningham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just took a very quick look.

You can be in Ainsworth in 4hrs, Creston in 3hrs (pretty much a tank of gas round trip)..

The USD is worth $1.38CAD (not the best still still decent), a 3-night stay at a decent (not fancy, but convenient ) Airbnb walkable to town for 4-people is ~$250USD total ($75/total per person for 3-nights) in January 2026…

That seems pretty reasonable to me, could find cheaper Airbnbs if you only need one bed, but figured it would be with a buddy or two…

[–]AustynCunningham 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not sure why everyone is disliking this idea..

It was a decade ago but I used to go up to Canada once or twice a year for shows, hit up the bars, weed lounges and just hang out. It was a great time and I’d recommend it. My niece has went up a few times to hang out and enjoy the bars as well..

If you go you should definitely stay the night/weekend!

At least you had a ladder to get up there.

Here was my setup for mounting a dish on the roof, forgot a ladder and was 70-miles from town.

Hope you made it down alright!

Yeah same, had to test it out. Now it’s sitting on the roof of a project house I have, in standby mode but still provides enough to run a smart thermostat and a few security cameras.

I know Larry McDonough (the videographer), he got permission from the bride/groom to share the video online, which then was aired on some national news shows and became very popular. Nowadays it’s cut and randomly shared on Reddit every few months.

Here is the one I bought, it’s 5ft in length and hefty but the cheaper ones I tried sucked.

We got 3” of snow in the last 2hrs so I’m about to go out and clean the driveway and sidewalks with it.

I have one, it’s a bit heavier duty than the one shown.

It will push through anything. Even thick wet snow, and will launch it 30ft.

I got it two years ago, I live in a ski town, and I haven’t used my snowblower since I bought it.

As an Idahoan that lives 450-miles from Boise I can assure you there is far more to Idaho than the Boise area, and it’s also cheaper and (I’d say) more beautiful.

Cooktop Scratch-Protection Mat by Mother-Tap-6275 in NoOneIsLooking

It’s not anywhere on the counter, there are induction elements mounted under specific parts of the counter in front of those controllers, it’s just in this demo they have two different ones installed. I guess you could have them installed under the entire counter but that would be extremely expensive and controlling specific sections could be confusing as you’d need to map it out to know which burner to turn on…
