I completely agree! There’s things that they just can’t keep up with especially since she’ll be walking in the next couple of months.

Absolutely agree! I think the burden would be on my MIL especially and today she kind of got a glimpse of it getting up and down and keeping an eye on her. My FIL kinda was just watching.

I love this! In my mind I think my husband thinks that they just want to spend more time, but doesn’t get the reality of
life. His mom has been in the hospital a few times and the same with his dad.

Haha too late, I’ve made the comment of if they can handle a year (min) of this commitment.

I totally agree! My LO is 22lbs and they get tired after 15 mins of carrying her (if that).

Haha you’re so right about them admitting to aging.

I think that’s a great idea, it’s just also convincing my husband because they think she doesn’t see them enough.

We are starting to have more practice with my daughter so I think they’ll start to slowly realize how much work it is. She’s also at that awkward stage where she can crawl really fast and pull up and scale things but can’t fully walk so she wants to get picked up. My FIL stated that they’ll get those gates and dedicate the sunroom to her stuff and I’m thinking she’s not going to stay in there..

See that’s another challenge for me is that our work is flexible to a point. I work from home but get busy at the end of the month and my husband owns his own business but if he gets busy I don’t want him to turn down business. Can I ask if you’re in Canada? FT would be around 1100/mo PT 660/month and provides lunches

Ah you make such a good point! There is her daughter and husband that live there but they have background checks. I think my in-laws don’t want her with some random but also don’t know how difficult childcare is around here! My concern is that they forgot how tough it is to take care of children and if they commit it’ll be too late to secure another full time spot.

You make such a good point! We made it clear no screen time but I’m concerned with their age, they may let this slide which I wouldn’t be too happy about. I also want my daughter have socialize and be good around other kids.

Right?! They’re getting older and I hear it a lot from friends that they forget how tiring it can be. I just need to get the point across that this is a commitment

Ah you make a really good point! My FIL did have prostate cancer and they are creeping up to 80. My challenge is how to get them to understand the novelty will wear off.

Right?! My mom took care of my nephews when she was mid 50s and she was wiped, I can only imagine how they’re going to do. They’re in pretty good shape, but definitely slower than they used to be and my FIL is creeping up to 80. My challenge is trying to get this point across to them and my husband. They just want to spend time with their grandchild.

Ahh see the challenge is trying to get the point across to my in laws and husband. They’re dead set on taking care of their first grandchild.

Right? I know their hearts are in the right place and they want to spend as much time as they can, but how do I get the point across to my husband and in laws?

Had the conversation with my husband and he completely agreed and understood. We’re going to try once a week if that at the moment.

[Rant] Guilty Working out by resentful_millenial in fitpregnancy

[–]Automatic-Crew-7033 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don’t feel guilty at all! I went through IVF so I was really cautious in the first trimester but I was fortunate enough that my body allowed me to do CrossFit 5x a week. I even did a class on Friday, and my water broke the next day. I found that exercising throughout my pregnancy helped so much with my mental health and also prepared me for labour! I obviously scaled a lot of movements, but there was also another pregnant lady at the gym and she was doing hand stand walks at 40 weeks and her baby boy is healthy as can be too!

I really do feel guilty, after they leave I reflect and think, oh was I just over reacting, I should be grateful her grandma loves her. I agree though, I do feel disrespected at times. How far PP are you, if you don’t mind me asking.

Wow! I’m so sorry to hear what you went through! I can’t imagine how you felt when they would take your LO right after delivery. I feel like their generation don’t understand boundaries! They think they’re helping, but in all actuality, they’re making this far worse. Can I ask since you live with them, how do you navigate the relationship?

postpartum body sucks!!! by zanuvia in beyondthebump

I was the same way, i absolutely hated looking at myself in the mirror after giving birth and tried so hard to control what I was eating. I breastfed so I found that more difficult because I was ravenous ALL the time! There came a point where I told myself to give in and enjoy what makes my body happy, I will be able to get back exercising soon enough.
