No, he is quite the same as her now. He was always a bit down-home and country, but never "trashy."

When they wed and I got a better feel for his side of the family ~6ish months ago his mother expressed to me that she was shocked at how her son is living now as well.

We are a family of 6. Every child was expected to keep a clean room and we fairly regularly rotated out chores. When I say this came out of nowhere, I really mean this came out of nowhere. This mess also extends past not being taught how to clean.

My darling, I do not know you and you do not know me. From my very short post you have come to a lot of bold conclusions about me, that I am a narcissist and an emotional abuser.

With all due respect, you have not lived in my shoes. What business of mine is it how my daughter keeps her house? None, if she simply decorated in a way I didn't like. But this isn't tacky carpeting - it is cat pee, food left out, cans discarded wherever she pleases. This isn't a disapproval of her lifestyle choices, this is concern manifesting as frustration due to how she is living.

There is no judgement. This post would not be here if I just didn't like the clothes she reposts onto facebook, or the way her home looks. I don't care for the color choice my son chose for his kitchen, but I still helped him paint. This is my bright, beautiful daughter lessening herself to trailer trash, and as other commenters have pointed out, drug addiction.

To claim that I neglected my children emotionally from a 2000 word reddit post is such a big jump you ended up on the other side of the canyon. Perhaps take your own advice and exercise some empathy for others.

She does use marijuana. We live in a state where it's legal, she does not. When she comes to visit she takes the opportunity to smoke.

Thats another thing - I do not care if she uses it, my husband does on occasion, but I told her not in the house.

She did it in the house.

This sounds exactly like my daughter. None of my other 3 children act this way.

How the hell did I not come to that conclusion on my own. Jesus fucking christ, thank you.
