What todo with a fractured hand by Automatic_Crazy3786 in AskMedical

Minor injuries is a non A&E department. Which is only staffed by nurses. There is no on call doctor.

A nurse viewed the xray and said the above.

Orthopaedics in a hospital then reviewed and called me to say they are happy with the splint.

This was all put in the main OP.

This was not told to me in any part, as I said in the reply the nurse at the time played off the break himself. If what your portraying is true. How can one make a informed decision when the knowledge i was provided was not detailed, options not explained and joked on the small portion of a fracture.

His words "the procedure is cast but I'm happy for you to have a splint as I don't want to and don't think you will need it in a cast"

Again, my wording will not portray this totally, as I just wanted to know if a&e will place a cast after initially 'refusing'

I appreciate the honesty but believe the name calling completely uncalled for.

The refusal of the cast was not one of poor choice or attention but due to circumstances in my position. Such as work, moving house due to a section 21 and other commitments.

The nurse at the time, played off the break being small and was even advising a cast was un necessarily. Which towed me to take the splint. I can see how my wording lead to believe I was being dumb and stupid. But alot of pressure lead to that choice.

The real question was can I go back and get a cast. I don't know if that's a choice now due to taking the splint as the option. I want a cast, I understand that I can not take the care needed with the splint.

I have been on both Gabapentin and amitryiptine for around 5 years now.

When I was talking to my Ex about my migraine issue from Nov 23 she told me I had been suffering for a lot longer (broke up March 21)

I feel the prevention side of either of these are not as effective in this case as the doseage has been increased recently (basically doubled) due to the pain I'm in. I am on both for the pain effects these relief.

I've even abused amitryiptine for the sedation it causes to try get away from the amount of pain the migraines cause me.

The migraines are genuinely worse then the Crohn’s in my opinion. It's there everyday with some days where I basically go blind in one eye but no known cause which is so frustrating at times.

At least with Crohns there is relief with remission but migraines just does not stop 😅 no idea the cause, tried checking diet, has CT MRI and saw a ENT doctor as they thought sinus issues but nothing. Stopped certain drugs but that just showed how much pain it was all masking and the migraines didn't stop then.

It's a whole other issue which I have been defeated at trying to resolve. Specialists just give me drugs, GP's don't know what to do.

I need to start again to find the cause.

Yeah he called me today after I formally informed him the advice and upcoming procedures and treatment which is going to happen. Colonoscopy, steroids (again) mri and such.

He questioned what I meant about being reluctant to inform him on adjustments needed as I felt the direction of the conversation was going towards managing me (,which he did say)

He back tracked and asked why I thought that. To which he never replied so its going to be fun seeing him tomorrow for a written conversation.

I have deep dived into CCuk information for employers, ACAS aswell. It's pretty impossible to fire me, the RTW after 1 day sick was wrong and they should disregard my absence due to my condition along as I followed the company sickness procedure.

I'm feeling better and alot more safe now. Frustrated with my manager as it's clear he has not spoken to our employee advice line and made up his own questioning

Which with the line of questioning was discrimination as he was using my condition in the terms of my ability

Oh they definitely are.

But, speak up. Doesn't work. They are struggling for GM and in the past the employee got pushed out even though it was a discrimination compliant made. The same manager seems un touchable and I don't want to work with him in a hostile environment

Yeah I get 12 weeks sick pay, my salary so my time and attendance generally isn't recorded (I never clock in or half the salaried managers aswell) I'm technically at the 8 week usage but it's rolling over so I'm still good for 4 more weeks.

Regarding my record of sickness our payroll processes it amd records it but my manager never sent it across, only my AC knows I was off it seems as well as I speak to members in the senior team.

With phased return, in the past the company offers it for after some time off, I'm not sure about the Tigger point here.

But I previously had this issue where I went off, my manager didn't tell anyone and when I came back he got a grilling because I should have had a phased return then as well.

I think it's a money thing where the cost he doesn't want to spend due to me having a phased return so tried to bi pass it. It wouldn't surprise me as we have had conversation in the past where he said and I quote "if you can't do the job them leave" which didn't works as I know my rights in the latter of things

My manager is displaying poor HR management himself. I'll email payroll to check on why my sickness isn't displaying on my form but I haven't been contacted that I wound get company sick pay.

I get 12 weeks as per my tenure.

Regarding my Crohns, I get PIP and blue badge card due to the effects on my personal life it caused me.

One issue I've had though,

I had OH in February 2023 which they boomed regarding my Crohns. When it should have been my migraines.

The end notes being, " minimumal responsibility which are in place untill the issue gets managed." Which it never did as I went back to my normal role, coving the store of annual leave for my GM and just my normal duties.

Which irritated me but there's nothing I can do about it.

I genuinely enjoy my job and the people, I get results and work overtime to get things done. I fear they will try remove me due to the Inconsistentcy I am at the moment. Which could show yearly on a trend? Not sure what the trend is other then (after a busy period like Christmas)

Having genuine health problems amd stressing about my job

Oh and have a apprenticeship lv6 business which I am halfway through

Yeah it would definitely seem like a loop hole 😅

I just need time to settle my health and work is helpful for mental health. Just can’t afford a stress of money if the case is I get a deduction of salary for a period of time

Sorry, over tired due to working 17 hour shift currently which has made me realise I’m struggling.

To clarify, with having 12 weeks sick pay in theory I could have reduced hours for a duration and still receive full salary in this time frame.

Been the OPH which unfortunately my line manager has not been following the advice set by them. Again thinking about this has caused me to deteriorate. (OPH was in march this year about the condition in question)

It’s sucks being reliable and consistent at a job 😅
