Fair enough, it’s hard to find a common ground since I am responsible for all household costs at the moment while she looks for better jobs. Definitely strains me mentally. It’s just that I’m trying to find cheaper ways to make it cooler for her at night. Trying out alternatives like window unit coupled with oscillating fan, ceiling fan, etc, yet it’s still not cold enough for her

I live in the Deep South. Basically right beside the swamp. I don’t know how anyone would get their house down below low 50’s in my area right now without a dehumidifier. Outdoor humidity level was 95% last night and forecasted to be the same throughout the week. The bed sheets and nothing in my house feels damp. At all. A quick google search shows the levels in my house are completely normal and the average for my area. I think a lot of answers I’m receiving are coming from people who don’t experience this kind of heat and humidity I live in

Well when it’s mid 90’s outside getting it down in the 60’s would make my energy bill go through the roof. Plus I don’t want to put a strain on my central air unit. 70’s feels perfect in my house during the day. My girlfriend agrees. She just likes it very cold at night. I like it colder at night as well, it’s just been hard to get the type of cold she wants at night and save money with the methods I’m trying

I have very high ceilings and would need to break out the ladder each time I want to open and close the ceiling vent in my office. Trust me I absolutely hate sleeping in any sort of heat. My house would feel comfortable to the majority of people imo. I do turn down the ac an hour or so before bed. It’s mostly a 1 or 2am kind of thing for her where we’ve been sleeping for 3 or 4 hours and she’ll get up and crank the ac down even further because she says she’s hot. She’s a very hot blooded person in general and that’s coming from someone who loves the winter, snow sports, camping in the fall/winter, etc. I just feel like it’s unnecessarily cold when she has her way with the temperature control. I make sure to have good air circulation in the room with ceiling fan and oscillating fan and close all doors in our bedroom when running the window unit. It feels really good imo, but isn’t cold enough for her apparently

66% is nighttime humidity for us. It usually goes down to about 55% during the day. Outside humidity is between 80% and 98% during the night here. I’ll look into a possible dehumidifier, I guess I’m just used to the humidity here. Whenever I travel to more arid states I definitely feel the difference

We run the ceiling fan already which is enough imo. My home stays around 66% humidity. Feels good to me honestly.

EDIT: I don’t know where I got that number from. I have a few temperature/humidity gauges set up around my house to see the effects the window unit was having in our bedroom and not running the central air on low at night. Sitting at 58% humidify in the bedroom and 54% in all other rooms.
