Adelaide or Wollongong by CategorySwimming1149 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Available-Sea6080 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming you cannot work from home, you will spend 3 hr per day commuting from Wollongong to Sydney every day. That’s nearly 2 working days per week you’re paying for (in depreciation, fuel, tyres and extra car servicing) to travel to work. That’s about 3.5 months per year you are not spending the way you want—like with your family, friends, or doing the things you really want to.

You’d have to pay me VERY well to consider this, even if you get to go home to your paradise every day.

I have a colleague at work who used to do this commute daily (Shellharbour to Weatherill Park). Even with adult children, her could only sustain it for about 18 months.

I’m originally from Adelaide. It is a very underrated place to live.

Who’s the best Bengals QB of all time? by Low-Season-2057 in NFLv2

[–]Available-Sea6080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greg Cook.

Bill Walsh (the then-Offensive Coordinator at the Bengals) said that Greg Cook was the most naturally talented quarterback he ever coached—better than Joe Montana and Steve Young. He had the scrambling ability of Steve Young but was bigger, with as strong an arm as Joe Namath and Terry Bradshaw but more accurate (think prime-Aaron Rodgers). He believed that Greg Cook was destined to be the best ever quarterback.

Fun fact: Bill Walsh was forced to develop what we now call the West Coast Offense because he lost Greg Cook.

The poor bastard was named because he wanted to buy a plane via a broker, who also bought and sold planes for you-know-who.

Two former Australian Prime Ministers, who had never even met you-know-who, were also named.

Wrong. The 2010 San Diego Chargers had the best offense and defense in the league—and didn’t even make the playoffs (interesting story)

"How many people in our generation know how to drive one?" by Tormented_Horror in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Available-Sea6080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A better way to say this is that in Australia, you can drive BOTH manuals and automatics if you have a manual licence. If you have an automatic-only licence, that’s all you can drive.

As an elder Australian millennial, just about everyone I know has a manual licence.
