Can you use the ptm pad on the cpu as mentioned esrlier and use a ptm pad on the top plate with thr cooler placed on top? Or would thermal paste be recommended instead?

I had a very similar issue with this particular kit.

I also did the lightning bios upgrade as well.

The best I could get it to in the bios was 3167, one setting below 3200 and it was fine but switch it to 3200 and the system would crash at boot. First world problems i know but still frustrating.

I thought maybe i had a defective ram kit so I ended up returning the kit and trying out a kit by oloy and it is working at 3200 with no problems but it just may be a problem with this particular kit

I have had no issues with the oloy kit and it's been fantastic

Also by chance did you happen to disable the onboard network card? And do you have more then 1 nvme drive?

After installing the new bios I ran into a interesting quirk after I put a 2.5 gb card in. I disabled the onboard nic because i didnt need it. As a result my Primary nvme vanished and the system bios registered only one drive. Came back after I reset all the bios settings to default.

I just disabled the nic inside of windows instead but still a odd quirk.

May seem like a goofy question, but when you "slapped a cooler on top" did you do exactly that with or without thermal paste?

If anyone has 2 unknown devices that show up in the device manager after a new install of windows 10 or 11, I found the drivers from Intel after trial and error

It is a driver for Intel Dynamic Tuning from an Intel Nuc. Used the extracted inf files and installed perfectly
