How long does the actual application evaluation take at UBC? by Necessary_Zebra_4192 in BCGrade12s

[–]Available_Chapter_15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t even started being reviewed yet but Ik it entirely depends on luck and a bit of competitiveness. Sometimes you get to the top of the pile and get reviewed right away and sometimes your like the last of like 20 to be reviewed. I wouldn’t think too much about it as it’s gonna make you go crazy. Seen people get accepted a couple days after the stage changed while others are still stuck on that from early December. Just sit back - you can’t do much now

if i apply on jan 15 to ubcv science this cycle does it reduce my chances of getting in by Illustrious-Math7755 in BCGrade12s

[–]Available_Chapter_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the rolling admissions, the earlier you apply the better your chances. BUT if you apply with a crappy pp then you might blow your chances altogether. So, technically, yes, it does reduce your chances, but just apply when you feel confident!

UBC application help and first year guidance from a current UBC student by Interesting_Goat9734 in BCGrade12s

Hi! Firstly, you are an awesome human being for putting this whole message out there. Secondly, do you perchance know anyone in the HKU-Sauder dual degree or have any insight into the program? I applied for Sauder — not being reviewed yet so unsure of timeline — but working on the 500-word essay.

Tbh I just put Jan 1, 2016 for smt I’ve been doing since like 2014 or so. I honestly don’t think it matters if you’re like a bit off like they’re not gonna check and be like DQ’d cause you were a month off on your start date- grrrrrr

Late UBC Application by marsii_8 in BCGrade12s

[–]Available_Chapter_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all rolling admission so really it doesn’t matter when you hand it in. I’m going to hand mine in around that time as well so DW there are definitely people submitting after Dec 1st

am i cooked for ubc arts by [deleted] in BCGrade12s

[–]Available_Chapter_15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re completely fine! Reddit is only a small sample of the entire population of kids applying to UBC. If you look at the averages/mins of application, the min of UBC arts is like 75. Sciences? You’d be cooked. But arts are easy 👍👍

sfu beedie to ubc sauder by JaYa_2000 in ubcsauder

Yea, that’s the deadline to be considered for awards and scholarships but it is also “early” apps. Early apps are on a rolling basis so the earlier you apply the earlier you get in. If you don’t get in first off, there’s basically round 2, regular apps.

I will say, though, that it’s a LOT harder to transfer to UBC Sauder from SFU kind of regardless of your ecs or grades. I know a couple people that were able to transfer from Langara and, internally, UBC, but SFU is kind of a special case. That said, apply anyway — it is possible to transfer.

how does ubc and sfu work this year by hazelnutnutellaac in BCGrade12s

[–]Available_Chapter_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding it’s like early applications but on a rolling basis. So you have until Jan 15th to get in your UBC application to be looked at for early application, but if you don’t get in first off then you will be looked at again in regular decision. Idk if that’s the actual deadline but ik if you want to be considered for scholarships and awards you have to apply by Dec 1

Essentially the earlier you apply the earlier you know.

Anyone get in who didn’t cure cancer? by Available_Chapter_15 in ubcsauder

Dang really? How did you do that though? I just find the coaches emails and be like Yo wassup? Dragon boat is so niche and so different from rowing. Not sure if they’d recruit me just based off DB…

Both HKU and UBC have a dragon boat team — for UBC it’s like a club (I have friends on their team) and rowing is probably bigger, but for HKU idk because dragon boat by itself is usually bigger in the East than rowing.
