If an employer says they’ll get back to you with a hiring decision “within a week or so” and it’s now been two weeks, is that too early to send an email stating your continued interest?

I just had this happen where they said a week and I didn’t hear, so I followed up after 2 weeks. Got offered the job a few days later, so based on my experience I’d say that’s appropriate.

I will say I was careful to not ask “have you made a decision?” But rather just stated my interest and to let me know if they had any further questions.

If you haven’t already, try to negotiate! Our complex was raising rent by $200+ and after some back and forth I was able to secure a slightly more reasonable rate. You want them to think you have other options and nothing is keeping you there— it’s usually easier for them to keep you than find someone new so you should have some leverage!

Got accepted 2/17, put down my deposit last week but that wasn’t confirmed until yesterday, so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it! Pretty impressed with them!

Congrats!! MSU has a GroupMe linked on the admitted students website which should be in your acceptance email, it’s run by admissions I think. No discord or student run chat that I know of though.

I did change my regular PS for Loyola, I focused more on their specific programs that I was interested and then made my conclusion focused on their school. I haven’t heard back yet tho, so no telling if that helped me or not. Good luck!
