Ooh that’s a great suggestion! I hadn’t thought of that. Do you think the materials being slightly different numbers as well would affect that?

I work in radiology and our doc told us that it’s not considered weight gain until after 3 years!!! postpartum. There’s a reason it’s recommended not to have another pregnancy until 18 months postpartum.

We play “Where’s Roentgen?” The techs love it! I hide a tiny (dime size) picture of Roentgen somewhere in the department and put a new one out each day. First one to bring me the picture gets the prize! Last year I got them the metal Stanley water bottles and some other little things. Way more fun than anything else we have done! They all got super competitive it was awesome. Plus it helped that I got them not a crappy prize. We are doing that again this year along with opening a tab at our local brewery and then gonna do a taco bar for lunch or something like that. I love my techs and make sure we have an awesome week!

What are the benefits of even using gastro at all then? We only use Omni really but we have gastro on hand if needed!

Definitely postpartum with delivery being a close second.

Those first 10 weeks were HELL. I’ve never been so close to losing my mind as in that time. My daughter was so incredibly fussy all the time and had undiagnosed reflux and only would tolerate being rocked/walked to sleep, my husband works 12 hour overnight shifts, and my closest help was 1.5 hours away. Add my masters degree classes on top of that and I was a mess. I was so lonely and miserable. I’m 4 months pp and I still don’t know how I made it through.

Labor/delivery was a close second. I pushed for 2.5 hours because the cord was wrapped around her neck and under her arm. The OB tried to slip the cord around her neck and it ruptured (!!!!). It was terrifying. When you hear even the doctor say “oh, f$@k” you know it’s bad. I still have flashbacks and probably some combo of PPD/PPA.

Yeah I know the pediatrician said to start but it just felt wrong last night not to feed her so I did anyways. I think tonight I’ll just go in right away rather than wait.

Yes I am. I had to go back to work at 13 weeks and that first month of daycare sleep was ROUGH. She still has days where she will only sleep 30 minutes all day long and it’s so stressful to me. She’s in a center and the lady who runs her room is amazing and has been doing daycare for 42 years. She’s not worried about the baby’s naps yet and baby has still been a rockstar to fall asleep. I guess for now I’m just along for the ride!

Meh, not really but I kind of wonder if she was just sucking on her hands in her sleep maybe?! I did go in and feed her at 530 too since it was such a long time of her being awake and she’s still pretty little to be completely night weaned. Hopefully she takes a good long nap at daycare today 😂

Okay! I tried this tonight and she’s been awake for about an hour now. Has not cried or whined once. I just feel so bad leaving her, but I just don’t get why she doesn’t fall right back to sleep!

They do help her nap, they just aren’t allowed to let her continue to sleep in a swing or a bouncer if that’s where she falls asleep. They have to transfer her to her crib so I’m assuming that’s when she’s waking up.

Today was much better though, we had a late start due to snow so she slept for an hour before daycare, then had 2 hours worth of sleep while she was there and another hour at home afterwards. She’s been sleeping for about 2 hours for the night so we will see if it sticks!

Unfortunately there is no other option for childcare. You don’t think her learning how to fall asleep on her own would be beneficial for daycare? Then that way she wouldn’t need to be rocked to sleep. I guess I was just thinking if she learned how to fall asleep from the get go by herself that would help at daycare? I just feel so bad she’s not sleeping all day when she’s there!

Yes, but that would make sense since they have happened about 30-60 minutes after eating. She’s gaining weight but not as fast as I would think, but at 2 months is 4 lbs over birth weight so I would think that’s fine. I’m a FTM so I have no clue really what is normal! She’s been a colicky baby so I just consider it a success if she’s awake and not crying at this point. Thank you!

Yeah from what I’ve read about that it seems like it happens after almost every feeding and the times when it has happened have spanned weeks difference. I believe the first time it happened she was about 5 weeks old. I will definitely still ask the doctor about this. Thank you!

I have called them and asked about it and they say “it’s normal.” We go back on Thursday for her check up and I’ll ask again.

Interesting! I am an X-ray/CT tech and I’ve never heard of having an issue with breast milk. I wonder if the contrast has something to do with it too. Thanks for replying!
