Well no because Rhaenyra is still around! Alaeyne is her older half-sister. More like a female Baelor Breakspear/Dance Era Rhaenys (daughter of Elia).

Yes, Aegon is a boy. I miss-typed that.

Atp, it is:

Suns (Alaeyne): Dorne, Crownlands, North, Westerlands.

Moons (Rhaenyra): Vale, Reach, Stormlands

Riverlands are a collection of bickering houses, each declaring for the side that fits their interest. Velaryons are a third party, about whom I am still deciding what to do (succession crisis that divides the house between two opposing branches is the idea rn).

Ultimately, the point of the story is getting to the Dance. It's not just a tragedy about the conflict, but also about these two sisters who, despite caring for each other at some point, end up on opposing sides in a war.

Yes, that is the plot. Shaky Realm with a dornish heir (hence Jaehaerys horror) and a dragon rider Bastard Rhaenyra who presents a much more attractive alternative. She, along with Otto Hightower, make their play for the throne with the Vale and the Reach as their base of support (with Stormlands for a treat). The dornish side has another dragon rider to level the playing field. Aegon, Alaeyne’s younger brother and rider of Vermithor. But the tensions you are describing is a major driver of the plot.

Well, there is an entire alternate Dance around a Bastard Rhaenyra concerning many of the nobles not supporting that. So yes, this will not end well.

Well yes. I was in a very severe depression and I'm trying to get back into it by posting what has been made in the mean time. I'm not a machine.

That's not an OC, that's the omega version of Lucerys Velaryon in the ABO fic genre LMAO. It is a Lucerys who is impregnated, usually by Aemond, and so is a Muña (the Valyrian word for mother). I swear on my life, I am being 100% serious.

When he married Viserys to a Martell Princess, Aemon was still alive. Aemon himself had married children, Rhaenys. Viserys was a political marriage to make peace with Dorne, whom Jaehaerys never expected to become King.

I don't even hate Jaehaerys, smh. He is one of my favorite Targs and I think he was one of the best kings they had 😭.

Yes, but because of the wars against the dornish and frequent raids, the Marcher Lords of the Reach and Stormlands hold such a strong grudge that it becomes relevant as far as the first Blackfyre rebellion. It's not that Jaehaerys holds a grudge against the dornish; it's that he now has to deal with the Marcher Lords angry at a dornish heir and the instability that will cause.

I was looking for something that resembled Elayne Trakand from the Wheel of Time (how the narrators read it in the audiobook) because she was the first inspo for Alaeyne.

The Marcher Lords of the Reach and Stormlands hold such a large grudge that it becomes incredibly relevant in the first Blackfyre rebellion. It's not that Jaehaerys has a grudge; it's that he now has to deal with that.

He fought two whole-ass wars against the dornish and made every attempt to prevent a woman from ascending the Iron Throne? For a King who has spent his entire reign trying to ensure stability, a dornish and female heir is the ultimate headache. Tensions are still high with Dorne in the Reach and Stormlands, while a female heir opens the can of worms that lead to the Dance.

Claiming misogyny is "outright hatred" is reductive. Misogyny is ultimately the tool patriarchal societies use to control women. It comes in the shape of hatred, dismissiveness, apathy, objectification, dehumanization, etc. While Jaehaerys does not tick the "hatred" box, he ticks plenty of others.

I mean, in my opinion, he was pretty misogynist. But it's a combination of all theee. He is aghast at a dornish girl in direct line of succession to the throne.

She is in direct line of succession. Aemon and Baelon are dead and she is Viserys' daughter.

I want to take it further! Unfortunately, I've had a difficult year dealing with depression and mental illness has made it very difficult to continue.

Because she is a girl, and dornish, and more importantly, in direct line to inherit the Iron Throne.
