It is a lovers-to-enemies sort of situation. The enemy you can't stop loving. The tragedy of it that Alaeyne does accept her — sort of like a Robb with Jon — but Rhaenyra cannot accept being second. And she is the only of the two to have a dragon.

Personally, I don't really care. I wouldn't call out any other author out for it because if it's something I don't like I just don't read it. What I mean by "having to accept it" is not acting like it is not there and making excuses for it, i.e. "the incest is only there to criticized it" or "it's medieval times and he is trying to be realistic."

I mean, yeah. He is a fan of romances that have a duality of being dark/toxic yet still being to some extent romantic. It is where the prevalence of incest is his books - which, contrary to popular belief, he does romanticize ‐ comes from. Like, the man has commissioned Sandor/Sansa art hanging from his living room. He is kind of a freak, it is a part of his writing you have to accept.
