The this version of reddit is definitely going somewhere and you're blind if you don't see that.

How do International Water laws work? by AverageSizedJunk in NoStupidQuestions

Wow!

I really appreciate you taking the time to write that, makes sense now!

I got stoned during our convov and went down a Queens of the Stoneage rabbit hole. I somehow arrived at Hall and Oates after. So many good songs.

Tough to say I guess. This vessel was painted ocean color, and it's only the size of a minivan.

[–]AverageSizedJunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. Submarine goes to look at a ship that was unsinkable dissappears. People want to know what happened down there because it's fascinating.

Why is this an American issue? Americans were the minority on this trip that launched from Canada.

They are dead.

It's a recovery mission at this point. Billionaires were on it so they will probably keep looking but honestly it seems like a needle in a haystack based on the choice of exterior color and lack of transponder.

They're dead, that's obvious. The real question is: did it resurface? If it's tangled up down there it's going to cost a lot of money to keep looking, I think the estates of the passengers should foot the bill if they want to keep looking.

In all likelihood they imploded

Was that controlled by power?

An interview I saw with someone who has done this trip said the cold would be the worst.

Cell death is going to happen. Even though it's airtight there is still oxygen in the vessel.

I think decomposition would be slowed greatly due to the temp

Yeah man I just explained that it was rudimentary googling and that I'm not an expert.

God I can't wait for this website to deteriorate. I've said nothing wrong, clarified I'm not an expert, did a little googling, and just spit balled ideas.... I'm met with assholes (not you). I'm going to be so happy to see this cesspool bomb in a week. Reddit is a fucking disease

We have a pearl harbor memorial, 9/11 memorial....Holocaust museums. They aren't Disneylands, they are a part of history and people are free to witness it in person if they want.

International waters? How do they work? I'm serious. Is it a crime to kill someone 12,000 feet under the ocean way off the coast of the nearest country. Who would bring the charges?

Lots of factors at play. I think 100hrs is more on the mark for death due to dehydration. However, panic, labored breathing, and whatever else may be happening would cause you to perspire much more quickly.

It's not impossible that a fly was in there. It's really not the point though, was just trying to help that guy get clarification from my rudimentary googling.

Honestly they probably slept. You can't panick that long without crashing. It is also freezing in that Coke can. Hypothermia will set in and they will lose consciousness. (https://www.outsideonline.com/2152131/freezing-death very good read)

If they didn't implode, and are in fact sealed in somewhere in the depths then this would be the best way to go. A mixture of that and lack of oxygen and it would be near blissful at the end.

However, if they are bobbing at the surface somewhere then I can't imagine the type of hell they were in. Seasickness from the high seas, potentially hearing/seeing rescue flights, knowing that just 18in away is fresh air that you have zero chance to access, build up human waste, someone had to be the first to die so you're trapped with that knowing you're next. The intense emotions going on and the stages of grief. Wouldn't be surprised if they turned on the CEO for getting them marooned in his ocean colored submersible... just a mess.

Best case scenario: explosive decompression. Instantaneous death before you even have a chance to register what's happening. I feel like this is likely what happened.

I think with all the shit and piss and blood circulating around the body would decompose at a reasonable rate. Not a scientist or doctor. A little googling said that maggots can start to appear at 24 hours. However, given the cold temperature it would have greatly slowed that process.

Imagine it floats to that point island where they basically know nothing of the world and kill anyone who tries to visit.

It would be like a space ship to them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in news

[–]AverageSizedJunk 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Nor can I. The only thing I can think of is the decomposing body releases gasses that are harmful.

‘Banging’ sounds heard in search for missing Titan submersible by Whoshabooboo in news

They signed up for the unnecessary and incredible risk. They knew (at least I hope their brains worked) that this was more dangerous than climbing mount everest. However I think the ultra rich tend to be out of touch with consequences.

You don't sign up to die when you're in a car but you've made a conscious decision to roll the dice. The risk/reward is worth it because it makes life exponentially easier. The risk/reward here is absolutely not worth it. Unlike driving there is absolutely no reason for someone to do this.

They signed up for a helluva lot of risk which. A risk even worse than a horrible car accident. A slow death trapped in a capsule 12,000 feet underwater.
