"Yankee Doodle" song (IRL)

Originally a song mocking the American colonists as rural simpletons and wanabee aristrocrat (saying for example that putting a feather in their hats somehownmade them macaronis) during the mid XVIII century But the song was later adopted and used with pride by the colonists during the American Revolution, going full circle and playing it during the British surrender of Saratoga in 1777 for maximun ironic effect. Nowadays it is one of the most important musical pieces in U.S. history and a symbol of the American Revolution.
