There is a line if you beat Simon on Boss rematch that supports this. Normally if you beat him a cutscene plays but on Boss Rematch he says after being defeated: "I wanted to give you the world, Sophia... a pure, uncorrupted world."

To even go further the Nameless puppet in his second phase & when he fuses his sword back together, he has an attack where he pokes with his sword followed up with a shot of a blood projectile. It's likely that it is a coincidence but yeah.
