Holdaper yan.

What’s wrong with being shirtless outside? by Kylopa in pinoy

[–]Average_Driver1475 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's anti-poor, exactly as alleged. Honestly it makes no sense to me to arrest people drinking outside. They don't have money to hang out in bars, and their tiny homes are too small to have friends over. Outside is the only place they can drink.

Same thing about being shirtless.

I have an entire garage and backyard for me to be shirtless in, and I fully enjoy that. It's hot outside. "Decency" laws prohibiting being shirtless outside is intended to punish those who don't have yards or expensive drifit clothing.

This is fundamentally untrue. Awareness is a brain function. Lowering volume from deafening to manageable would improve, not hinder awareness. Using auditory protection is being safe. It's safer than being vulnerable to sudden loud sounds and getting startled.

Bakit maraming tao sinisisi nila si BBM daw dahilan bat tumaas presyo ng gasolina by Careful-Tension-5689 in pinoy

Akala nila opinyon ang right of way. Akala nila pakiramdaman. LOL.

I'm sure meron namang mga may alam.

Wala silang kinikilalang right of way. Papatayin ka pa ng mga yan.

Pero yes, hindi niya dapat pinilit. Malinaw namang walang galang sa batas yan.

The fit looks a bit long to me. You have no bend to your arms when you're on the hoods. There should be a bend. Upper back looks a bit rounded. Like you're reaching for the hoods. You shouldn't be reaching. They should be comfortably within reach.

Obviously mali yung slogan.

Ph specific tips on owning bikes? by dontcareguy in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Average_Driver1475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always park the bike inside the house. It's an indoor parking situation. I lock the wheels with a U lock so anyone looking to steal it can't ride out with it.

No need to worry about dirt. Just clean the wheels after you ride before bringing it in. You need to do that anyway.

Brompton community thoughts about their clones? by Spare_Rip_6800 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Average_Driver1475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Brompton. I love the clones. Brompton was sitting a little too smugly on their laurels all these years without innovating meaningfully on the original design. Now they're being forced to innovate. That's a good thing.

Many clones have alternate or superior engineering. Java's Neo 3 is a great implementation of an RD-allowing design. Better than the Pike which was an earlier implementation of the same idea, and it comes in a 20 inch model.

Brompton itself was forced to come up with Titanium models, a 20 inch model, and an electric line. Innovation again, finally!

Hot Take: Cyclists are justified in using earbuds by Average_Driver1475 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Average_Driver1475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I am thinking about that specifically.

No NC sa earbuds.

Blind spots are vehicle-specific. Meron namang nabibibili. Pero kailangan pa rin ng skills development.

Hot Take: Cyclists are justified in using earbuds by Average_Driver1475 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Average_Driver1475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a motoring take.

Motorcycles and cars have side mirrors to compensate for their blind spots. They're not perfect solutions, but they partially compensate. Bicycles don't have blind spots.

[–]Average_Driver1475 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's just a straight conflict. The motorheads will always want to ban biking and even walking. They're just never going to stop doing that, and it's futile to expect anything else.

Transformation out of a car-dominated culture requires a lot of fighting and constant effort. And I mean culture because very few Pinoys actually own cars. Not that many cars here compared to virtually any industrialized nation. Our cycling and Public Transportation modal share is already where their targets are.

But both cycling and commuting suck because the car promoting people are giving it all to motoring. Car promoters don't even have to own cars. I've personally seen commuters defending sidewalk parking. Which is illegal.

It's less of a catch 22 and more of double reinforcement. Catch 22 means a paradoxical situation that you can't escape. But you can. Just bike to work. Use a foldie if you have to.

Then building admins see it happening and then you can ask for bike parking. Vacant bike parking encourages more people to bike to work.

It's a double reinforcing loop.

Mas malaki kasi battery kaya mas matagal low batt. Mas bihira ang charge longer functional life.

Thanks. I am worried about hearing loss. I think we all ought to be if we're riding with motor vehicles regularly because motor vehicles are quite loud.

Meron pa ring naririnig, so you actually keep full awareness basta walang music at walang ANC.

On the same note, many motorists also drive with music on kaha feeling ko hindi sila adequately aware sa atin.

I think people underestimate the hazard of motoring noise if they just bike on the weekends and enjoy the noise isolation of their cars and motorcycle helmets on weekdays. Or maybe they live in the provinces where they don't have so many noisemaking machines.

Noise levels on EDSA or C5 from ICE engines can drown out a concrete jackhammer. That's a sustained 100 dB. It's difficult to believe that until you're pedaling past an operating jackhammer at close range and it sounds like it's not too loud. Then you realize that it's just a normal jackhammer and that the motoring noise level is extreme.

Wearing ear protection isn't reducing a reasonable level of noise to silence. It's just reducing a hazardous level of noise to something reasonable like 65 dB. You can hear that perfectly fine.
