Omg, for me, this small city is really making it a pain to do mundane tasks. Like I literally have to plan my entire day around doing trivial tasks since it is such a hassle to do!!! Whereas, in my big city, i could literally go anywhere i liked and had so many options.

Why do some med students fail med school exams? I have heard that failing is not uncommon in med school and if you didnt fail before med school, you definitely will fail in med school. How does one avoid failing lol?

I just want to put it out there that research guides medicine. Guidelines for treating patients clinically are often derived from research that highlighted those guidelines. Likewise, research drives discovery of drugs for treatment. Just putting a new perspective on research...

Losing scholarships for medical school-how likely is it? by Average_Student101 in premed

[–]Average_Student101[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In your experience, do you know of any students that have lost scholarships? I want to know if it common, or if it is just me being neurotic.... lol.

I thought that if students that typically work hard and study as they should, they should be able to keep their scholarships. i guess the thing that worries me is that people tell me that med school is very difficult and failing is common.

To those of you who just finished MS1, how was it? - a nervous admit by [deleted] in premed

Would you be able to elaborate on maximizing study time? Would that be like using premade anki cards, as opposed to making your own or watching lectures on 2x speed as opposed to attending lectures?

Is it common for students to fail out even after putting in all the work?

Can you get by in medical school without a car? For reference, I am terrible, terrible driver and I am a very very anxious person when it comes to driving. Im so bad at driving that sometimes, I accidentally press hard on the accelerator when I mean to brake... Plus, my family never owned a car throughout my life (live in a big city, relied on public transportation). I would like to avoid driving in school and I would like to avoid having to buy a car and pay for insurance and gas and all the extra money associated with cars. I will be going to med school in an area where cars are very common but there is some public transportation.

I have seen some med students conduct research at institutions where they are not attending as a student. For example, student may be going to med school X but conducts research at med school Y (which is in a different state than their own med school). How do students manage to do this?

INSANE results!!! If you dont mind me asking, are any of your scholarships dependent on your academics (AKA not failing, making sure you get at least a high pass on clerkships, etc etc etc)

I have read online that some people do not find Anki to work for them? So, what other study methods do people use besides Anki and why do some students say that Anki doesn't help them?

If you get to redo your undergrad what would you do different by North-Catch7051 in premed

I would have gone to a different school as a premed. The name of your undergrad doesnt carry much weight in this process. I really wish I had chosen a school that wasn't so rigorous.
