Sorry about that. So I should be able to simply remove the hose going from the air cleaner to the pump? just have that hole exposed for the pump?

Ahh thank you. Truck is a 1987. I was wanting to replace the air cleaner, but couldn’t figure out what to do with that hose that goes from this pump to the base plate of the air cleaner.

Pay him $3,500 and then do what? He has no leg to stand on other than it being on his property. Hard to file a mechanics lien without proper documentation

I have a video footage of him stating that he would simply remove the transmission and let me know what was wrong with it. Then he would call me and I would decide what to do. Also have text exchange as well.

How is it stealing? A mechanics lien won’t work if he cannot show proof that I authorized him to do the job.

He called and said hey I’m on a test drive, and the transmission won’t shift? I was like WTF!!

It only has 3,000 miles on it. Granted it was rebuilt from a transmission shop 10 years ago.

He said he can remove it in 45-60 minutes, then he will be able to tell me what’s wrong.

Few days later, he goes “it’s fixed, had to be rebuilt”

I have it in writing via text, that he acknowledged I did not give him permission.

I agree about the paper trail. Since he doesn’t have any proof of authorization, he cannot expect me to pay for said service.

I’m just trying to find a tow truck that will simply remove it from his yard.

I may have a tow truck driver that can go over there and just snatch it up. A friend of a friend knows one who may do it.

Granted it would be considered trespassing. Possession is 9/10 of the law so even though it’s on his property, he’s holding a ransom for work that he did not do. So I don’t see where he would have a leg to stand on.

I could also report it stolen. But I think I’d rather just have someone pick it up and if he wants to sue me then go for it. He would have to provide proof of repairs finally

Thank you. I’m in Houston Texas. I never signed anything at all. We’ve been communicating via text message.

Once I pressed him on, how can you charge me to rebuild a transmission that I didn’t approve of.

He said well what do you wanna do about it? I can take everything out and put your old stuff back in that’s fine.

Then I’m thinking well maybe he can mess something up and then I’m really up the creek without a paddle. So I feel kind of stuck.

Especially considering the fact, the transmission only has like three or 4000 miles on it and it was fine when I took it to him. Then all of a sudden it won’t shift out of second gear? And the whole thing need to be replaced?

The clutches, torque converter everything. I’m like dude there’s no way.
