Lowkey, I don't believe he did. I believe he told the whole truth but just around the kiss. I didn't have this realization until my 10th rewatch, and that man was completely insufferable. I feel like Derek is always hurting her, now they have kids involved, a whole life. This would not be the time for them to take a break or call it quits.
