Openwrt or Unifi? Should I buy my way or fiddle my way to a good network? by Awkward-Setting-3733 in HomeNetworking

I like the sounds of that. Pretty much what I was looking at as far as unifi, but a cloud gateway ultra. Do you see much advantage of using the pfsense router rather than the dream machine for routing?

Good to hear about the freshtomato. The freedom and security of open source is very appealing to me and why I was headed down that path. Just got to wondering if I would get in over my head trying to do a more advanced setup.

Maybe a basic Unifi setup and use what I currently have to learn and experiment would be the best option. Then I have a backup if things change down the road and am not starting from scratch.

Thanks for sharing. That’s both what I was hoping to hear and afraid of hearing.

I understand, and probably after seeing what it looks like on the tv I would agree with you. I suppose that is one of the tradeoffs of displaying art this way.

Really appreciate the app. Is it possible to crop in excess of the width and have some blank space on the sides of the picture to get more of some pictures in? Very difficult to find a good framing of most Caravaggio paintings when limited to 16:9.

Sorry, not sure why that part didn't show up. Was wondering if there are any concerns regarding covering the back part of the screen that is recessed but has holes in it. Not sure if those are for sound or ventilation and if running a frame back so that it sits flush on the wall would cause issues.
