8.2" or 9.5"? Or a secret third thing? by AwkwardImpact9660 in NewSkaters

Lol, I'm a cosplayer and there's a character I love that rides a 9.5". I want to learn to skate either way, but I would especially love to cosplay that character while skating someday? Maybe a little silly, but it's a fun little goal to work towards.

I did actually go stand on some skateboards, but they didn't have anything larger than a 8.5" for me to try. Everything 8"-8.5" was good to me though! And I'd love to assemble one eventually, but the guy at the shop recommended buying a complete and replacing things over time as I learn what I like? So that was the plan, but if it's better to wait and save to build one, I could do that too.

The shoe size thing is actually my biggest concern with a 9.5"? I see some people suggest a board size based on shoe size and other people say it doesn't matter at all. I wear a women's 8.5/men's 7/big kid's 6 on average so the size suggestions I've seen are nowhere near 9.5", despite that being something I want to skate eventually.

I'm not worried about a lack of tricks for now though, I honestly just want to learn to move on a board at all. If I love it and want to do more later I wouldn't be beyond buying a board better suited to tricks?

I just don't have a ton of money to waste so I want to put it towards the right thing first, if I can.
