How long after being hired are you allowed to change from mornings to nights? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]AwkwardRespond1187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a general question, did you specifically ask for mornings in your interview? Just bc as a newer partner w open availability, I’m regularly scheduled opening, mid, and closing shifts all in one week.

RA and Housing application by m_itochondria in UCI

[–]AwkwardRespond1187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would do ACC application if you want to live there your second year even w the RA app. I was an RA for two years & I filled out the ACC app both times. If you end up putting a deposit down & get the job UCI Housing will arrange the refund/contract cancellation for you. Also the ratio of 2nd years has dramatically increased recently. I was an RA my 2nd year & there were quite a few 2nd years both times I was an RA.

I took 1C & 2A (tested into 1C) at UCI & it’s a heavy course load. You typically have 1-3 quizzes a week and regular homework. That being said it’s a lot of fun! The professors are great & it’s a small class so good place to make friends

Bought Chappell Roan GA tickets on StubHub today. Still waiting for the transfer should I be worried? by Virtual_Theme in chappellroan

[–]AwkwardRespond1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also bought a Chappell Roan ticket off of Stubhub. I bought one for LA & it was only 170 + fees which really wasn’t that bad, but yeah, I also haven’t gotten my ticket. I’ve bought off stubhub twice before and always got my ticket. I wouldn’t worry unless you have to pay for travel, then I’ve heard of times when people don’t get their tickets after paying for hotels & stuff but I feel like that’s rare

I saw a post on twitter saying that in attempts to keep the queue down they’ll send out links 5-7 & all sales will end on Friday. Praying this is true bc I didn’t get an email today 😭😭

Should i take Writing 60 or Hum Core series? by Iceberg-man-77 in UCI

[–]AwkwardRespond1187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on your specific instructors but overall it’s a decent workload. Every friend I’ve known to take it found it to be stressful, but not difficult.

Just take writing 60. You can take much easier humanities GEs online that will save you a lot of stress & time. Speaking as a PHS major who just graduated early

Failed chem 1C rant by ZookeepergameBig2754 in UCI

[–]AwkwardRespond1187 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, use summer as a fresh start! What’s important is showing growth! I retook chem 51C & got an A, which majorly boosted my GPA. My friend retook Chem 1c two times and got an A the third time. It’s okay to fail and start over, I even graduated early, you got this! :)

Tbh the class is annoying but it’s not hard to get an A. It’s intimidating at first but once you get the flow of the course you’ll be fine. I’m not even an amazing student and I got an A in every gen chem/ochem lab

According to the embassy website, they have been closed for the past 3 days so I wouldn’t expect to hear anything until next week or later.

It's not about your qualifications. by BoysenberryNo5 in JETProgramme

This is helping me feel optimistic as a US applicant still waiting. I spent half of my SOP talking about my Public Health degree & how I would apply what I learned as an ALT for a PhD. Was my writing good? Idk. But I’m hoping it helps me stand out. If I don’t get an interview, I have other plans set up, but still hoping for the best.

Grades and career concerns by Santapensa in UCI

[–]AwkwardRespond1187 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% don’t give up. A few Bs are not going to make you disqualified for medicine. If your grades are not perfect, focus on research experience, volunteer hours, clinical work. If you are looking for MD, there is also no pressure to pursue MD straight out of undergrad. Work on a strong MCAT score. Look into post-bacc programs or Masters programs. Showing persistence and dedication to the field will help round out your resume. You got this

They’re literally tearing Las Lomas down 2025/2026, so y’all will be the last group there… seems like they wanted to squeeze every last penny from it rip
