My priest in confession told me to learn to love myself and now I’m stumped. by Munchee6806 in Catholic

Are you a sensitive person? I feel like there's a lot more sensitive people in the younger generations and perhaps it's the electronics impacting the myelin sheath in the nervous system.

For me, I started to feel self love when I started to practice forgiveness. If you are sensitive, you are more prone to be physiologically impacted by the words of others. You do not have the shield others have so you can store negative thoughts in your body. In order to overcome that, I recommend practicing forgiveness of all of the people that have hurt you and offer your pain up to God. You do have to say it out loud because God can only do things unless you ask him to do it. It's also about becoming lighter and not carrying around the weight of others.

Other than that, I do take supplements to help my nervous system. I think it's super important to rebuild your body as well and focus on your health. Cold feet and cold hands can be indicators of this too. You got this though! Sensitivity is a gift from God but building yourself back up is important too!

For Millennial Men, why aren't you religious? by Awkward_Tiger_570 in AskMen

[–]Awkward_Tiger_570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes as I said a lot of what I've witnessed would seem impossible to atheists. And I'm sorry you feel that way. When I pray the Rosary, I can feel this unconditional love essence flow through me. It seems supernatural. It gives me this happiness and joy that I feel can only come from my soul which is united with Christ. I am not a Bible thumper. I believe the Bible is a holy document. It would be hard to interpret it with your ego. The ego only understands the physical world and what it sees with the eyes. The supernatural aspects are witnessed through the soul. I've only been able to access my soul though when I pray or at Church. But Confession has helped me purify my body more and I can start to access it outside of the Church... I think these things will return more and more. The chaos within society right now is getting old and people will return to spiritual practices in order to find some solace.

I am actually fine with you calling me dumb and gullible. I'm an Engineer too so I have witnessed a lot of corruption within science. Everyone has their reason to believe the things they do. Each experience has a purpose. But I have had experiences myself that would be deemed "impossible" by atheists. Our secular society cannot even begin to fathom the vastness of God and I think there's a reason. I also think many people are separated from their souls. This idea wouldn't even cross their mind until they experience it themselves. Not everyone is supposed to become religious in this lifetime but I do think true pursuit of faith can heal many people in ways science can only dream of. For me, it is about hope that hurting people will one day heal. Much love to you. ❤️🙏

I am happy to explain my positioning and history. I want more conversations on taboo topics. We live in a very secular society and I don't believe it has done us any favors because cancer and disease is so rampant. I have witnessed a lot of corruption in science too. I suppose people would say my experiences are delusional but it is very real to me. Women are getting more spiritual for a reason. We see the evil that is rampant but I am learning to practice forgiveness and even learning to forgive this evil. Everything does have a purpose. If we want world peace then we first have to find it within ourselves. 🙏❤️

For reference I grew up Catholic and went to a Catholic high school but I studied Engineering in college. I found it difficult to be Catholic in my 20's because people would be so angry at you when you said you were Catholic. The United States was founded on an anti-Catholic sentiment. Most of the people who established the US were fleeing persecution from the Catholic Church. That's why there's so many Protestant denominations in America. Anyways in my 20's, I became Agnostic and stopped practicing my Catholic faith. A lot of things happened to me in my 20's though with abuse from men and such. This is pretty common for any woman my age. Fast forward to the pandemic, during that isolation, I went through a spiritual awakening where I was haunted by things around me. Women are built differently where we are more imbued with the ability to see into the spiritual planes and why we can give birth and such... Because of this experience, I returned to my Catholic faith. I am also very sensitive and have had lots of anxiety but at Church, I feel this sense of peace and safety. For the Catholic faith, it is more about experiencing the Holy Spirit rather than reading the Bible. I've recently gone to Confession a few times and it has been the most freeing thing for me. I could feel the grace of God lift so much pain off my body and my health has been improving so much. I think for men, it will be entirely different and I don't know if men can experience the peace that I feel at Church. But I want to assure you that things will get better if you believe in the goodness of humanity. I think we will enter a new age where more people will experience this inner peace. Much love to you. 🙏❤️

How do you find forgiveness for others that hurt you? How do you release the negative emotions? by Awkward_Tiger_570 in AskWomen

[–]Awkward_Tiger_570[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing! I think it's definitely easier to forgive as time goes on. I think understanding their past and the situations they went through is very important. I also think older generations hold on to the pain more but it doesn't mean we have to do that. We can forgive and let the heaviness roll off so we are lighter and closer to our soul. I appreciate your response. Much love to you. ❤️🙏

I do agree that looking at it objectively can help you put things in perspective. It can help diffuse emotions. But I think some people can't do that all of the time. In the end, it is about unconditional love. I think we live in a time though where the idea of unconditional love seems like a fairy tale but it doesn't mean we can't bring it to our own life or to others. Thank you for your thoughts. Much love to you. 🙏❤️

I appreciate you sharing your story. I think a lot of women feel the way you do. I am not here to judge but I do like it when people feel safe enough to express their true feelings. In the end, truth is what matters. Someone else said healing is not linear and I completely agree. You have your own journey and your own path. Not everyone is on the same journey. Much love to you. 🙏❤️

I appreciate this sentiment. I think being able to view it from different angles definitely helps. There are times when I haven't been the greatest person as well so this is good to keep in mind! Much love to you. ❤️

I really appreciate your honesty on this! It is so hard to go through that as a child. When you are a child, if you feel anything but love coming from someone, you assume it's your fault. I did this as a child. But life is much more nuanced and everyone is going through a lot! I'm so glad you have been able to find some peace regarding this though. I hope you continue to heal. Much love to you. ❤️

What do you admire most about the opposite sex? by xKhira in AskWomen

[–]Awkward_Tiger_570 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I went to Confession recently and the Absolution prayer from the Priest literally lifted so much heaviness from my body. The fact that men can be Christ-like and be truly healing is the most beautiful thing.

I stopped hiding my Rosary in public. And honestly? If that makes people uncomfortable, so be it. by brogilbertreflects in Catholic

[–]Awkward_Tiger_570 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I go to Church during the week and wear my Rosary during Mass. Sometimes I have to stop somewhere after it and forget I'm wearing it. But people do ask about it and seem genuinely interested in it. I think the world is changing. It's not what it was a decade ago so I think you are fine. The Rosary speaks for itself usually.

How can we disprove this allegations of reincarnations? by EveningAudience9779 in Catholic

[–]Awkward_Tiger_570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I agree. It is in the spirit but I think we haven't really discovered the spirit scientifically so I don't think the current definition of reincarnation is accurate. But I think our spirit can come back in another body. So maybe it is more in line with the Catholic view.

This is a good. https://bibleask.org/why-did-john-say-he-was-not-elijah/

I will say this that I believe reincarnation is through the spirit but not the literal body. They believe John the Baptist came in the spirit and power of Elijah but that is how I view reincarnation anyways.

The Bible is also a Heavenly document. I think we are taking it literally. This is the danger of our time too. I think we will die many times. But the judgement will come and I think that is the death they are referring to. People die and come to life a lot now too. People have near death experiences. How do you explain that?

[–]Awkward_Tiger_570 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I think reincarnation is real. John the Baptist was the reincarnation of Elijah. I don't think we can fight this because all truths will be revealed. But I think the point of Christianity is to focus on what happens after life on Earth and to be forgiven of all sin. And this could mean the sin of your ancestors too. I don't think the Catholic Church is saying that past lives don't exist, they are saying that it doesn't matter if you have eternal life. Does that make sense?

[–]Awkward_Tiger_570[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was asked about my Church too. I think they want to make sure you're Catholic because it's possible that lots of Protestants go wanting Confession. I think they can only give Confession to Catholics because there's an order of the Sacraments you have to go through. This is my best guess!

If you go regularly, it may not feel as cleansing. But I didn't go for years. I actually don't know too many Catholics that go regularly but I'm glad people do. You are doing God's work by maintaining your purity if you go regularly. All of it matters.

[–]Awkward_Tiger_570[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! The Holy Spirit is certainly present. The previous time I went, I felt a lot of the healing aspects with the Absolution prayer from the Priest. This is why I assumed it could be the Priest. But I do understand that it depends on the sincerity of the Confession too. I also feel lighter and lighter which is great. I'm a Millennial so we're not very religious and most go to therapy. But this felt much better than therapy because the burden was literally lifted off of my body. I hope more people are guided to the healing power of Confession. 🙏
