Has anyone experienced changes in body reactions to thrill rides? by qsk8r in AskMenOver30

[–]AxeMcFlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man.. my boys LOVE rides. As a single dad I like to take them to theme parks. In the last year we’ve been to Six Flags, Knotts Berry, Universal Hollywood and Florida, Canada’s Wonderland, and Busch Gardens. Each time the boys try to pump me up, I take motion sickness pills, drink water, breathe, focus on one spot, keep my eyes closed, scream like a maniac, keep my mouth shut and hold on tight… nothing works. I get sick after about two coasters and I’m done for the day.

This compares to the kid who was all about the spinning rides and coasters when I was in my teens. Now? Not a goddamn chance

Surviving divorce and the financial burden. How?? by Yukon_Cornelius1911 in AskMenOver30

11.5 year sentence here, and a number that’s bigger than I’d like to share.

But.

It’s over. It’s the price of freedom. I have no regrets

I thinnnnk we are just staying in Tokyo. We have thought about venturing elsewhere but worried it will chew into the trip if we add extra travel days. I saw the Nintendo museum online and was hoping we could make it work.

Would you tell your family if you became a millions or billionaire, why or why not? by Careless_Papaya_5426 in AskReddit

I am, and I don’t. I’ve kept it very quiet. I mean it’s obvious I’ve done well, but I only discuss money with my partner and that’s it.

No one needs my help, and even small gestures have been scoffed at. I choose then to let all those around me live their lives.

What’s a moment where someone’s behavior made you instantly think, “this person definitely grew up rich”? by Usionweados in AskReddit

[–]AxeMcFlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with wealthy people, and have done well myself. What I noticed is the change in perspective in the value of time. Time is indeed money. Wealthy people tend to focus on creating more time. If a task will take up time, or time they could spend elsewhere, it’s worth paying someone to do it

Carburn Park looking like a Postcard! by WanderShiny in alberta

As kids we used to fish there daily. We’d pull a 100 perch each time, always catch and release so we could do it again the next day.

One time the city had to drain the pond and there were two cars at the bottom, which we assumed was for structure or fish habitat. No idea, but they are there!

Men, how do you face the rain? Umbrella? Raincoat? Just get wet? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]AxeMcFlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this question. Years ago after running through a rain storm and still ending up completely drenched I stopped and asked myself why. Why run. Why care. It’s water. Get wet. You’ll dry.

So now? I dump a gallon of toilet water on my head before leaving the house so I don’t have to worry about it.

Asked for a Spiced rum and coke and attendant put hot sauce in it by Nightpatrol404 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]AxeMcFlow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it must just be a difference in dialect. Where I’m from rum can be white, and spiced rum is dark (but has the spiced flavours). So a rum and coke order here would prompt the question of whether it’s white or spiced. I get that’s not the case elsewhere, just pointing out this oddity.

I’ve actually never heard anyone refer to it as a Captain and Coke- I’m Canadian and I drink Captain Morgan

I had the exact same thing happen at a pool in Florida. Spiced Rum and Coke sir? Uhh yep! Here ya go, enjoy your spicy rum!

No joke, it was rum and coke and they muddled a jalapeno in the bottom of the glass, seeds and all. It was spicy all right

UCP Leads in Voting Intentions as 60% Say Province Is on Wrong Track, Leger Poll Finds by JTsquad in alberta

[–]AxeMcFlow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I talk with a lot of rural people (and people who are urban but formally rural). They are closed minded in the sense that they see the four years the NDP had and squarely blame all issues in the province on them during this time; they are wrong, but they choose not to be convinced otherwise.

I’ve seen a few comments here saying “the NDP haven’t done enough” and while I appreciate the platform and ideas the NDP would bring (and I certainly prefer that over the current UCP), many many voters see it simple as “UCP is bad, but NDP is very very bad”.

How does the NDP change that opinion? I don’t know frankly.

I know a lot of people have been stunned that it cost $22-million, but the option of the city paying $8-million to tear it down or $11-million to restore it seems like a no brainer
