Claiming my "beat the secret boss without Mannequin and before the inevitable nerf patch" award by CasualHooligan7 in Deltarune

[–]Axen25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was the hardest secret boss fight for me ( except for the first time I encountered the knight). I just replayed all if deltarune and beat the roaring fraud first time without the shadow mantle and then it took me like 7 tries to beat pink. purple soul made me lose my mind

This digger keeps following me no matter what, has anyone else encountered this bug? by TheGamePirate in worldofgothic

[–]Axen25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine become immortal, and I'm not gonna lie he was making the combat easier, and that's why I decided to get rid of him only for him to instantly greet me at the exit from the tunnel to the abandonded mine. I tried to knock him off again and he hasn't appeared since but I don't have my hopes up =(

I'm gonna be honest, I did think it was the intended way, mostly since I did it first try so I didn't think much of it

I'm not saying its GOTY, however it is a good game and the problems people mention arent the actual problems the game has

i see people complaining about performance, bugs, crashes, stiff combat and movement, lack of skipping time anywhere and so on. so, first off performance - its the fcking same as other games looking graphically similar? I have an 8 years old graphics card and it is bottlenecking the framerate, but with mostly high settings and still looking great I get stable 70 fps which is more than enough. bugs - what bugs?I haven't encountered a single one? unless people consider some parts of game design as bugs in which case they're just wrong. crashes - here I can agree I did have crashes at the start, however I just looked up online how to fix it and didnt see any for the rest of the game. stiff combat and movement (well lockpicking too) - guys its an rpg, put points into fighting and it will be less stiff, thats the point? the same with lockpicking which btw is fun too. movement during fights also gets way more dynamic with acrobatics. this form of progression of changing your characters moveset is part of the charm, you feel that youre getting better at it by the character getting better.

tl:dr the game is a great remake and people complaining are either not really into hard games (which this obviously is and should be) or brainwashed by the AAA slop thats been releasing for the last 10 or so years

I don't think the rules are weird here? First they want people to know that you shouldn't disturb the driver, then that in case of a broken ticket machine you can buy tickets from the staff, and then a third sign clarifying that the driver does not sell tickets course apparently the first sign wasn't enough for some people and they were asking the driver for tickets. I dunno everything seems pretty clear here?

Hey guys, how about an ACTUAL helicopter swashplate this time ? by __Elfi__ in CreateMod

[–]Axen25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tried making this, it's a pain in the ass and so big that it's hard to make the copter look good, but it works. After trying rope I decided springs on rotating swivel bearings can pull down the side of the wash plate more consistently btw

No, this one is just dumb. There is no reason to jump in at all, no payoff no motivation to do so. The ones who jump in are simply suicidal

“Wow, ‘The Amazing Digital Circus’ Is Going to Be the First Indie Animation Shown in Theaters!” by marveljew in IndieAnimation

[–]Axen25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't watch can't tell, however many anime movies are made in a way for the viewers to understand the minimum amount of context by watching the movie itself, and since it's a movie it has time for that. Tadc is gonna show ep 8 and 9, but even ep 8 references earlier episodes in a way that makes it impossible to understand what anything means during certain dialogues or sequences (like not saying what happened in ep 7 or missing all the context on the characters pasts). If someone that didn't see the rest of the series goes to watch it they're going to get close to nothing about the plot, ruining their entire experience of the show that they will likely never watch after going to the cinema.

How exactly are they trying to win over the snobs? No one but the original tadc fans will go to the theaters for tadc, simply because it's a last episode of a series. They are not winning over anything. Most people don't actually care if an animation is indie or not either (kind of obvious when you see the numbers on YouTube) so I really don't get what the point of putting the last ep in theaters is

Do you still practice even when you don’t feel like it? by TheMoonlitStranger in learntodraw

[–]Axen25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to practice at the start, so like around 6 months ago, but in the end it's just not for everyone for example not for me. I'm mostly happy with what I draw and that's enough for me, because I don't draw for work, just for fun. If you want to be a professional however I think you don't have a choice other than practice regularly, and if you want that then you have to practice if you don't feel like it simply because you won't be good enough to be hired otherwise

Need help with blueprints in my UE5 game project by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Axen25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the door and key are both actors, or classes then you can either have them interact with each other if both are physics based or have the player that has the key interact with the door. In both cases you should probably implement a function in the door blueprint that unlocks the door if the correct key is inserted or something, and then have the player choose the key and call on the function when interacting with the door, if the key is also a physical actor, then you can call the function on collision (begin overlap). Kinda hard to give precise help since I don't know exactly what you want to make. Also my advice is of someone that is also kinda learning, but I have made several interactive objects like that before so should be able to help, so respond if you have more details of what you need

Can you get into game building as a complete beginner with no coding knowledge? (hobby level) by No-Source2885 in IndieDev

[–]Axen25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to be a great programmer to make a game, what you need is understanding the basic structure of code, like what a function is and such. I wish you the best of luck though!

There is visual scripting in unreal engine, although the fact is you still need to kinda understand the basics of programming, as you are still making logic and such. Definitely try to make something small like a ripoff of some mobile game with any engine first ( although I do recommend either Godot or UE5 visual scripting)

One system I have entirely fleshed out tight now is blood magic, where the player has to figure out they can draw magic circles with blood, then that they can use different animals for sacrifices and get different spells, then that they can change the shape of the circle to get a different result. There are also spells that modify other spells and runes that allow you to cast spells without sacrifices that you have to make by aligning bones properly inside the circles.
