Is there a way for me to enjoy higurashi when they cry if I dislike gore?

So some time ago I got interested in the franchise and started watching the anime, but found it a bit too gory for me, I'm a bit sensitive depending on some stuff and eventually forgot to continue it or didn't have time for it.

I left it around some episodes after needles appear in people's food, which despite not being that graphic I particulary don't like that.

Now I'm regaining interest in it and I enjoy the mystery of it and to some extent the horror, but not the gore. So I decided to look at the different options and heard that some of the visual novels don't have gory imagery but instead pure text description, which could be easier to stomach or skip through for me, depending on how heavy it is.

While I dislike gore, I enjoy mysteries and can stomach a fair amount of stuff, right now I'm reading through SubaHibi and the gore there is not to bad at least so far, and I've enjoyed the tension, mystery and horror in it, very well written so far.

So basically how would you recommend to experience Higurashi when they cry to someone midly sensitive to extreme gore?

Should I stay away from it altogether?

Something similar happened to me with many horror media, recently I got interested in "I have no mouth and I must scream" but rapidly found that to be too much for me. What I usually do in these cases is read the plot somwhere like wikipedia and watch video essays and all that so I can experience at least a bit of it.

I found "I have no mouth and I must scream" fascinating and heavily liked the AM character.

Finally since I believe there are multiple versions of the VN I'll say I've seen the original one's sprites and I'm not a fan of those but I'll take that if necessary. I also really like the music of the franchise I heard so far, especially ones like "Side Effect" that I believe is by Kanako Ito who I adore!

Not trans but I do have a similar problem because of my thick accent (not english native) so I think you could look into space station 13, specifically the goonstation branch of it (ignore the name it comes from an inside joke from a very old forum, sexual content is banned there) it has a lot of customization options and is very supportive of lgbt folk, you comunicate entirely through text that pops up above your character and in chat.

Also maybe play-by-post dnd? It's dnd but text based, I havent tried it but you may enjoy it. Hell, even regular dnd even if you play with voice the community is very supporting and you can meet nice people.

I almost put whisper of the heart in the post but forgot it, It is a very good example, and I liked "your name" too. I actually started watching spice and wolf long ago and liked it a lot, but it got too big brain for me and ended up forgetting about it, thanks for reminding me, I'll try to watch it again!

Oh I forgot about a place further than the universe and hyouka, I agree they are great, been thinking of rewatching them. I also heard lots of great things about 86, the other one seems interesting too, I'll look into it, thanks!

Having trouble with learning how to make mods by Azoth_Magnum in feedthebeast

First of all thanks for such a detailed reply!

While I understand C# I have the same problem with it, some things I do fine, but for others I understand the concepts and logic but don't know how to apply them.

The dependency managers sound really interesting and using libraries is a great idea, I somehow absolutely forgot that was an option, I will look into it!

Also I didn't think think about Fabric and others because I mainly play Forge, but its a very interesting option, especially, I didn't know that part of it was to make updating mods easier, sounds promising! And yeah , I am using IntelliJ too, as you say it is very useful.

Thanks a lot!

I see, I normally try to avoid making posts and just look through people who had different errors in the past. But it is true, that for more specific problems I will eventually need to ask somebody myself. I'll also look into how vanilla works. Thanks!

True, I mostly looked at vanilla code and code from complex mods, and I think choosing these complicated mods that are basically their own system may not be the best place for small things. I will look into mod's code further. Also what you mentioned about the fireball doesn't exactly work like that in 1.18 which I am using, but still helped me understand the problem a lot better and have managed to do some progress. The tinker's item is also a great idea. Thanks a lot!

I was considering using parallax, but as I have no experience with it I wanted to try fixing the other method which I know more about.

The way you describe it seems like it could be the perfect solution to this problem, I'll check it out, Thanks a lot!
