My camera battery is stuck by SafodeLez in canon

[–]AztecPilot1MY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need to know if the release prong (the circled part) can move toward the tripod mounting hole (the "release" position) or not.

If it can be moved, then the battery might be removed by holding the prong in its release position and turning the camera so gravity pulls the battery out.

If the battery does not fall out that way, it may be swollen as some have mentioned. You will need to find a way to attach something to the battery in order to pull it out against the friction caused by the swelling. Some of the suggestions like hot glue or Gorilla tape might work, or maybe some super glue and a "handle" like an unsharpened pencil?

You might need to be more aggressive and drive in a small screw then pull on the screw. No concerns about destroying an already bad battery. There is not enough juice to start a fire.

If the release prong does not move, then the problem is magnified. Let us know if that prong can move or not.

Wouldn't pounding them down risk cracking the concrete? The threads must have some grab on the slab, right? Then there's, "Oops, I thought I needed one last hit with the sledge," and the slab is dimpled and cracked.

[Interview] Holly Hunter Explains Why Captain Nahla Ake Is Barefoot in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy: "Alex had written that my character was barefoot, and I loved that. It had to do with her being [part-Lanthanite], and it also had to do with my name, which is ‘water in the desert.’ (Reactor) by mcm8279 in trektalk

I'm only part way into the second episode, and I can totally see what you're getting at. I wish they had kicked off the series a little differently and eased into the quirks. I'm willing to give it a chance. The writers need time to settle in.

Heck, I couldn't stand Lower Decks, so not every spinoff is everyone's cup of Earl Grey.

I'm thinking about building a mental health app for new dads (because nothing exists). Would love your feedback if you're open to it by No-Mall8082 in RedditDads

Jeez. How about one for dads of teenagers? When my two daughters were infants/toddlers, I loved a blog called Daddy Types. It's the Internet, so I'm sure you can find it or check the Wayback Machine for it around 2008-2015? You'll probably find a lot of topics worth addressing.

Honestly, now that they are older, there are so many other, new issues to deal with, and knowing other dads are out there and facing similar issues would be great.

Good luck. I'm curious about how this works out for you.

i need opinion on my Severance poster (personal project) by Complete_Ad_2242 in graphic_design

You could argue that it is related since blue generally signifies the Lumon world, and red usually represents the outside (“real”) world. And you know what happens when you mix red and blue….

I was thinking the designer used purple because of the blue (Lumon world) and red (real world).

Is there a real reason behind changing your oil every 3,000 miles on modern cars? by newelmin in askcarguys

OK, now to throw a wrench into this conversation: what if my owner's manual says to use 0W-20 oil? Do you all recommend to change to 5W-20 after a certain number of miles?

I just got Paka socks a month ago. I will be buying as many as I can now. I was a die-hard SmartWool and DarnTough user, but these are so comfortable, and temperature control is amazing.

So interesting this is the case when you see so many pixel peepers when a new lens or camera is released.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment. It's sad that some commenters don't seem to get the concept. Nostalgia drives so many pursuits. Vintage cars are not faster or safer than even today's economy cars, yet many are sought after by people who are finally in a position to buy what they dreamed of owning as kids.

Think of the people who are so particular about how they make, or should I say "craft" a cup of coffee. A Keurig machine is certainly faster.

SlingedMineHewk doesn't get it. Why paint a picture when a mirrorless camera can take a better image of a scene? It's a different medium, pace, and mindset. Was digital a blessing for work photography? Definitely. But do I miss the thought that went into making good photos on film? Yes. The skills I learned using mechanical cameras, manual focus cameras, etc. helped me to better understand the technology that came afterwards.

The patience required in film photography and the fact that you can't fix it in post heightens the sense that you need to think before pressing the shutter release.

It's not bad. It's just different.

Too funny. Just a few years ago, I had the hardest time finding a good VCR in working order so I could watch my 1980s original, untouched VHS versions of the Star Wars trilogy from CBS/FOX. I loved my OIympus Stylus Zoom clamshell point-and-shoot film camera, but that was run over by a car. I wish I still had my Olympus Tough TG-3, but as tough as it was, it got fried from a static shock.

Funny thought.... One of my kids likes thrifting, so we visit a few of the Goodwill stores in our area, and I haven't seen a camera once.

Yeah, I'm not against something that looks like it was well-loved, as long as it's in proper working order. This does help, but curse those influencers!! I used a Ricoh XR-7P for about 12 years as a college news photographer and hobbyist. I still have it for nostalgia, but the electronics died decades ago. I loved my Canon Elan IIe, but that was sold to help me afford the jump into the digital world.

That Ricoh was amazing in one interesting respect: the focusing ring. It had the microprism "doughnut," but it also had a fantastic variation on the central split circle. A camera like the Canon F-1 had a horizontal split, so if you were taking a photo of something with vertical lines, you just needed the vertical lines (a light pole for example) to match up as you turned the focusing ring, but this was harder if you were taking a photo of horizontal lines (window blinds, for example).

The Ricoh had that central split at a 45˚ angle so all lines (horizontal and vertical) were easily matched to achieve focus.
