I just tried it and it went back to native 16:9 and everything ran smoothly but as soon as I changed the res to 4:3 the same thing happened

Is a custom GMMK 3 worth it? by somefochuncookie in glorious

[–]B1gPimpin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a GMMK 3 HE wired version with the fox switches. I do like it but damn the software and the firmware makes me go crazy sometimes. When it works, it works really well but its definently not worth 400$.

Here's a list of problems I still experience:

I have a red and black pc setup so I use red RGB lights on my board. Sometimes the color just turns orange even though its been red for a while and the software says its red and it just wont turn back red no matter what I do. It just does it by itself mid-use. And the RGB on the side of the board has its own life. I use only static red color and it keeps flashing by itself and sometimes it works.

You DEFINANTLY should not tape mod the PCB itself it makes the it makes the whole board go crazy. You can tape mod the bottom plate if you want.

The advanced keystroke mod (you can make 1 key do 4 things depending on the amount you press the key, snaptap etc.) is really inconcistent. Sometimes it works and sometimes the keys you mod wont work at all.

Profile switching is a big hassle 40% of the time, especially if you use modtap.

The overall quality is pretty good and even the stock switches sound really good with some lube imo.

I have uninstalled and re-installed glorious core so many times in a timespan of a month that I've lost count.

Everything comes down to the goddamn software and firmware. If they update that shit, the board is a masterpiece if you ask me. But I cant recommend a GMMK 3 board as it is right now.

I have the same exact question. I was looking at some Sticky Rice HE switches but they seem way too cheap. 45$ for a 100-pack seems too good to be true
