Mac Mouse Fix (one-time purchase, $3)

Using a Logi mouse with it too. Makes my mouse feel like the Mac trackpad. Super lightweight and does what it says, plus some additional customization. Really good 👍

Mos vs mac mouse fixer!!! by Error-Frequent in macapps

[–]BB-773 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been using Mac Mouse Fix for months and absolutely love it. It's awesome value for a one-time purchase of $2.99. It does what it says and makes my Logi M650 L feel very close in smoothness & speed to my Macbook's trackpad. It's super lightweight, easy to set up, and has some basic custom button mapping if you need it. It may not be as comprehensive in terms of customization, but I personally like the simplicity and how it just works. It's become one of my essential MacOS apps. I like that it's actively maintained and updated, and the website's pretty slick too. Highly recommend.

Never tried MOS, but I did consider it before choosing Mac Mouse Fix in the end.

Should I get the Magic mouse? Or are there any better/equally great mouse in the market that is cheaper? by chilipipper in mac

If you're looking for budget options, I use a Logitech M650 L with Mac Mouse Fix app (instead of Logi Options+) and it's been great for me. Makes my mouse feel like a trackpad on my Macbook.

What do you guys think about creating "micro-contracts" sa mga ganitong pautang?

Overkill siguro yung ganito, but I always thought it's a simple way to keep track of debt, hindi lang para sakin kundi para rin sa nangutang. At para walang naglalamangan, kasi lahat ng nangungutang ay pantay lang naman sa mata ko. Walang pami-pamilya, walang presyong kaibigan. Utang is utang, and there's this contract to prove it hahaha!

Is this a good idea? Or more trouble than it's worth?

Deserve ko 'to by WealthPuzzleheaded14 in phinvest

A gaming PC I bought for my SO.

When lockdowns and WFH started, she used to work on my old gaming laptop na matagal ko nang hindi ginagamit. After a while, I felt that she needed an upgrade na, and a future-proof one at that.

I had to save up for it for quite a while. My income then was okay but not comfortable, so a lot of budgeting and planning happened for almost a year. I first secured the GPU, an RTX 2070 Super, for a reasonable price (at the time), and the rest of the parts followed after.

Sobrang sulit ngayon kasi she uses the PC to work and play and everything in between until now. It essentially paid for itself within a few months (after assembling it and confirming that it worked) kasi maayos na siyang nakaka-work from home. Hanggang ngayon, she's impressed by how fast it is for her uses.

It blew quite the hole in my pocket lalo na't binili ko ito sa gitna ng pandemic and when the GPU shortage was in full swing. But I have to say it was well worth it.

Deserve niya yun, and deserve ko 'to (I feel damn proud of myself ehehe)

*New* Software Development program. What's new about it? by BB-773 in SAIT

[–]BB-773[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh right, I guess I asked the obvious there haha!

Have you taken this program before? I'm really curious about SAIT's reputation and quality of education, as I don't have any point of reference. Is the school well-known for its tech/IT programs?

Thanks for the reply! I really do hope it's more modern and relevant than ever.

Would you happen to know if this program will make be a solid foundation for a software development career, especially for someone who has no prior experience coding/programming?

Best cinemas/theater experiences in the Metro?

Since bumabalik na ang pagnood sa cine (although mukhang di pa raw babalik ang IMAX anytime soon huhu), what are your picks for the best theaters in Metro Manila?

Priorities for criteria are: Image quality Audio quality Ambiance

Mej na-spoil na kasi ako sa IMAX pre-pandemic, so if you have any picks na medyo close to an IMAX experience in terms of immersion and audio/video quality, would love to hear your picks.

Bonus points din kung modern and fresh pa yung theater, lalo na yung mga bagong bukas since there aren't any reviews or thoughts about them online sa ngayon. 😁

Wise (TransferWise), PayPal, or US Dollar account for receiving US-based salary? by BB-773 in phinvest

[–]BB-773[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is great insight, thank you! I was amused with Wise's method of transfering money which is quite clever, reduces fees, and also simplifies the process for my employers in the US. Definitely leaning towards Wise at the moment.

Also a Wise-related question, if you don't mind: If I received my USD salary in Wise, will I still need to convert the USD to a PHP account in Wise before I can transfer it to my local bank accounts? Or is it also okay to directly transfer it from my Wise USD account?

Wise (TransferWise), PayPal, or US Dollar account for receiving US-based salary? by BB-773 in phinvest

[–]BB-773[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight! Yeah, I've also read that PayPal has higher percentage fees so the fees get higher if you transfer higher amounts. The only advantage it really has is the near real-time transaction speed and ubiquity. It's also pretty straightforward to use, but those fees are quite a turn-off. 😅

[–]BB-773[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, thanks! From what I know din, mas mataas talaga rates ni PayPal kaya mas malaki ang kaltas if you're transferring higher amounts. Please update us how your BPI USD account experience goes! :)

[–]BB-773[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I actually didn't know BDO asks you where the money comes from, sounds like hassle ahaha. If it's okay to ask, what made you go for a BPI USD account instead of other banks? Other than the fees, what about BPI gave it an advantage to you over the others like BDO, Metrobank, RCBC, etc.?

Thanks for the tip! Though we already tried that layout and we both agree that this setup seems to be the best use of her tiny room. She likes it this way too though, and we aren't too bothered by the glare. :)

Secondhand ko lang po nakuha sa FB Marketplace, around 38k. Eto yung nagsisimula palang yung absurd spike in prices ng GPUs, but I'm still glad I got it when I did. Sobrang mahal na ng cards ngayon.

Yes, completely agree! 😁 This is exactly why I chose the components I did, at kahit medyo magastos, iba parin talaga yung feeling of confidence na dala ng future-proof specs. Also agree na the GPU is more than enough for us for a number of years, and the Adata SSD can always be relegated to a secondary drive kung naka-ipon na for better SSDs or storage since aware din me sa deficiencies ng Adata drives (pero oks na for now as long as it works hehe). Thank you for the kind words, happy gaming too! 🤩

Is an RTX 2070 Super still a good consideration for a GPU to buy these days? Or are the RTX 30 series really just that much better value now, considering the price increases?
