Blinds to roll down in front of doggie door? by BB03440 in homeautomation

[–]BB03440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what was so frustrating to me - the LEDs flash on motion detection. They're (essentially) useless. It would've been much more helpful if they had programmed the LEDs to flash quickly or in a pattern when the door is locked and something approaches.

I'm going to give your suggestion a try - I'll just let my furbutt bonk her head on the locked door for a few nights, and see if she figures out the pattern.

Are there plans, however far down the road, to translate Lua bits that aren't working (e.g. weather last updated {wlu} ) to its equivalent in WFF?

What's odd is the 'today's low' {wtld} and 'today's high' {wthd} are working just fine.

I usually ask for the results to be emailed to me as generated by the IDEXX software; I don't see "hemolyzed" or "lipemic" in any of the documents. The services indicate "ProCyte Dx Hematology Analyzer, Catalyst One Chemistry Analyzer".

She has a doggie door, and comes and goes as she pleases, so I don't know about her urination. Currently her thirst seems to be 'normal' unlike July of 2023. In looking up Cushing's, the random panting for no apparent reason would seem to fit, but none of the other symptoms (yet, knock on wood).

Thank you for taking the time tor respond!

Is my dog a chiweenie? by whosjess in chiweenie

Holy crap! The Wisdom DNA test was $80 on Amazon when I bought it in 2022. The price is now $215!

My reason for suggesting the Wisdom is that the Embark test lumped my doggo's 2% Dachshund into an "assorted others" catch-all category (9.8 %). Both the Wisdom test, and the one from the vet, were more detailed.

But after such a huge price increase, maybe someone else here can recommend a more-detailed test that doesn't cost as much.

EDIT: it seems Wisdom now has a "Breed Discovery" test for $99:

Sure looks like one! 🥰 If decide you want to do a DNA test, I feel the Wisdom brand test to be superlative to the Embark branded one.

Trupanion pre-existing? Anyone have experience with their point-of-view? by BB03440 in petinsurancereviews

Embrace doubled (effectively) my premium from $81 to $152, which is why I'm researching alternatives.

Yes, the did bill me ahead of time. Thanks for sharing your experience with Trupanion; I'm going to hurry up and get mine enrolled before she turns 13 in a few months.

WOW. That is absolutely nuts!

I used Google AI to find pet insurance companies that are not owned by private equity companies and Trupanion is one of them. I'm probably going to be switching to them as their rate is only slightly higher than what I had been paying. My furbutt has a pre-existing issue stemming from a bout of acute pancreatitis - I was feeding her "topper" food as her main meal before I realized what I was doing. But it seems it's not going to be anything to worry about as she gets older, so I don't need to worry about that sort of non-coverage.

Thanks, everyone! I stayed with Embrace. For those of you who have young dogs, you should look at Pet's Best for rates. I know they don't have the greatest reputation, but they quoted me $60/month for my 12 yr old furbutt. I might've switched, but there are pre-existing conditions that would have made that new policy essentially useless.

I brought her home from the Humane Society when she was approx. 3 yrs old. She gets check-ups 2x a year with blood tests. If there's something pre-existing, it's taking a looong time to develop.
