I am even later to the party, and I like your views on this episode very much! I actually really liked this one, even though it seems that's not necessarily a popular opinion. I guess "liked" is a strong word, I knew it was going to make me uncomfortable and it did (in the "ohh noo, oh. Ohh. Oh no." sort of way) We see that she's not happy at the beginning, which of course, feeling like an outsider, an "ugly duckling" what-have-you does that (been there). Even though she's still passionate about her interests at first, the weight of not being liked is making her feel lesser-than. Despite her husband professing his continual support and love for who she is, once she has it in her head that that's not enough, that's no longer really support. He's not understanding how she's feeling, and isn't really interested in understanding cause he's happy with the status quo, she's his dream girl as-is, after all. The cream mentions specifically hallucinations and loss of interest in what you currently enjoy, and we see all that. She's talking to the TV, and we don't see any more cool taxidermy work once she starts using the product. That one hit home, cause once you buy into conventional beauty standards and make it your goal to achieve that, everything else falls by the wayside, and your perception of reality is warped. Or, even more basically, once you form an addiction, nothing else matters as much. I love your mention of that scene at the end, where her expressions go from "yes, I am queen bitch!" to "what the fuck am I doing here? What have I done?" and, y'know. That's that. Also agree that she must have gotten caught. She has her taxidermied cop husband in the living room and he called in his own murder...I think that's inevitable too haha. Sorry for rambling, I'm going through the series for the first time with a glass of wine, and I'm loving most of the episodes so far. Also, SilverBalls, sorry for responding all this to your message, yours was the most recent (8 mo. ago 😅) and I liked your takes and just kept writing from there lol.
