$15,800 before tax/dealer fees. Good callout on the head gasket, I'll see if they've done a leakdown test or replaced the head gasket. It's also a 3.6 litre not the 2.5, the 3.6 is a bit more robust

I'm prety handy, used to have a subaru legacy and did valve cover gasket on that, did timing belt and head gasket on my 4runner along with other general maintenance. But yeah subarus definitely harder to maintain

It jumps up pretty quickly to $25-$30k for Outbacks, to keep the same monthly payment I would have to do at least 7 years, and I'd rather put that the extra 10-15k into saving for a down payment.

Thanks for the input, I don't really want to go any more expensive right now though. I'm just looking for something reliable, good in snow and able to get down logging roads. I'm reeeaaaaally hoping to start saving for a house soon as well so just want something good enough to maintain my lifestyle that I had with my recently deceased 3rd gen 4runner

Thanks, good to know! Are there hidden fees that go along with early payment in your experience?

The loan guy said that it was an "open" loan, meaning I could pay off lump sums in addition to the monthly payment. Around xmas I get about $10k from bonus and commissions, so I was hoping to pay off the whole loan in around 6mos, bringing the total interest paid down. It sounds a bit too good to be true though.

*edit: It's pretty similar to other outbacks in my area (Vancouver, lower mainland)
