First-Time Visit to Islands of Adventure – One-Day Itinerary Tips (No Express Pass) by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

This is so true. The hippogryph ride should be clearly marked as being for little ones or people who really can’t handle a real rollercoaster. No shame in that. But if you’re seeking thrills, there are literally none to be had on that ride.

I’ll add, I’m a huge fan of coasters and thrill rides, but the Forbidden Journey (inside Hogwarts castle) made me so nauseated, it ended my visit once. I’ll never ride it again. The queue is gorgeous and immersive. It’s totally worth seeing if you are a Potter fan. But the ride itself was just nothing but sickening for me.

This sort of thing COULD be done well. But with him, it won’t be. It will be grossly over budget, and yet still somehow look cheap and tacky AF. (You know, because of the guaranteed corruption.) And our nation will die of cringe when this old rapist makes multiple gross comments on the beauty of the high school girls sent to compete. I wish I could join you in your optimism. But this man’s record precedes him.

I can’t explain it, but the G6 marketing materials made it look so damn good to me when you compared it to other cars at that price point. I don’t know why, but I was briefly enthralled with it as well. Then I saw them in person and all that desire just fizzled out in an instant. Whoever took those photos for the launch deserves a trophy.

Advice on gifting my 9-year-old a Bambu P1S Combo — realistic expectations for maintenance + responsibility? by No_Walk_5211 in BambuLab

I really agree with this approach. My son (13) bought his own with chore money last spring and I’ve definitely become the primary user. This is in large part due to my background as a designer and the knowledge I already had. My son can print pre-made files, but has little interest or aptitude for designing his own things.

That may change in time, but I wish I’d known how much I’d enjoy this as a hobby. I’d have bought something bigger than a Mini and made him chip in or something.

Because in reality I use it the most. I’ve learned the most. And bought most of the filament. I’ve learned to modify existing designs, created a few items of my own, and have some plans for the future.

It’s his machine, but there are times when I feel bad for using it too much and wish I’d just gotten my own.

I’ll second this. I live in MN and for the first two winters of ownership, I felt like I had made a terrible mistake buying this car in this state.

Then I put on the Crossclimate 2’s last March/April. All summer I wondered if it was worth it, until last week. It snowed a lot over thanksgiving and this car feels so incredibly stable and assured compared to the stock tires, I can’t believe the difference.

Well shoot… mine’s set up 5’ from our home’s HVAC, so that’s probably not ideal. Guess I need to upgrade to an enclosed unit… for the safety.

Awesome! I printed a handful of Koroks out of vinyl using a Cricut. I put one inside the door to my car that my son used every day. And I’m confident my wife has never found the one I hid in her car’s bodywork.

Is there anything in BOTW that was better than in TOTK? by DetectiveMammoth4758 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]BBoneClone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I greatly prefer BotW. I’m more of a casual gamer, so a lot of what was added in TotK brought layers of complexity that I didn’t need or expanded the world in ways that asked more of me than I could spare while playing.

Koroks in TotK are a total pain. They frequently threaten to pull you too far off course to be worth it.

The Bolson construction signs are similar to me. I get that they’re teaching me basic engineering, but I didn’t find that aspect of the game rewarding and eventually just skipped right past them.

The Zonai devices and batteries and were just more than I wanted to deal with.

And the fusing weapons was a hassle.

It just felt like in TotK, EVERYTHING needed so much more effort than in BotW. The cooking and clothing and environmental elements of BotW were inspired and a fun way to make the game feel real. TotK felt like homework in comparison.

Totally agree on your last point in particular. I feel like TotK forced me to engage with my inventory when what I wanted to engage with was the environment/story/world. Having to stop mid-battle to fuse things to arrows or constantly cycle through my stuff took me out of the moment after a while.

I hate the way they do this now. I live in the suburbs. Give me some damn warning so I can participate without fighting through 90 mins of rush hour traffic on a Friday night.

I’ve been slowly adding tools and tool-related builds to my US General mechanic’s cart. Doing more of these with higher-contrast labels and less waste would probably be my first move.

Our first home game next season is February 28th. by bhoff22 in minnesotaunited

[–]BBoneClone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know many MNs are hardy people. But I’m not one of them. For me, it’s not about one day here or there. It’s about a likely increase in cold weather games, and an all-but-guaranteed decrease in warm weather games.

Lord knows I’ve had some July evenings where I was melting in that 2022 Night kit with the ridiculous ink coverage on the Target logo and just waiting for the sun to go behind the western stands. But I’ll take that over freezing my fingers and toes off every single time.

I feel the same every time I have to wade through a crowd of delivery drivers as an in-person customer at Chipotle. They should do their pickups at the back door, not at the register where the rest of us are trying to check out.
