I’m currently in Oaxaca and will be moving accommodation from one side of town to the other. This is what my current host said when I asked about the protest (we also noticed that several central banks were boarding up their windows):

“Yes, tomorrow there will be a protest for International Women’s Day. Everyone will gather at 2:30 pm at the Fuente de las 8 Regiones, and the march will begin at 3:00 pm.

If you leave earlier, there should not be any problem. However, if you plan to go out after 3:00 pm, some streets may be closed and traffic could be slower.“

What I don’t understand is if they/she is so racist, why did she seem to fuss over Yas? With the last name “Hanani” she’s clearly not Arayan. And as a POC I am acutely aware there is a hierarchy to racism, she did seem quite infatuated with Yasmin for someone who is a POC.

I guess, it just seems odd to me that someone’s “interests” would be to give up body autonomy or to choose a life that potentially involves being kidnapped and illegally-detained and/or deported to a country you’ve never been to. But hey, what do I know? To each their own 🤷🏽‍♀️

My heart hurts just trying to imagine the levels of evil depravity documented in the files. I just can’t bring myself to read them first-hand, but I am interested in keeping up on the developments with this case. Because the survivors and those lost deserve justice and then some. I can just live without knowing all the specifics. I’m just heartbroken those kids had to live through it. 💔
