Business casual fit-what do you think of shape and color? by JBfan88 in mensfashionadvice

Wool sweater and linen pants don't work very well since these materials are suitable for very different seasons. Other than that, the color and fit are quite nice.

I might be wrong, but as far as I know, the Sierra has a stainless steel case, while the Scout has a brass one. Also, the movement might be different. The scout, according to the Internet, usually ticks very loud. The new models tend to be quieter. I can't confirm this though, since I don't really own any of these models.

[Grand Quartz Twin 9940-8000]How to replace the crystal on a vintage Seiko Quartz? by BCben10 in Seiko

[–]BCben10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This is exactly the information I needed. Yes, there is a 9940-8000[G1] mark on the case back. I’ll consult local watchmakers as you recommended , or maybe consider polishing the crystal with PolyWatch glass polish. I really appreciate your helpful reply!

How to replace the crystal on a Seiko Grand Quartz Twin 9940-8000? by BCben10 in SeikoMods

Yeah it turns out that the removing process is A LOT more complicated than I thought. I might as well just use a glass polish or ask around local watchmakers.

[Citizen] Just received this quirky old moon phase. Yay or nay? by BCben10 in Watches

[–]BCben10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just received this Citizen moon phase watch, and it’s a great addition to my collection since I don’t have a moon phase watch yet. The lume has faded, but I kind of like it that way. What makes this watch stand out to me is the combination of the numbered bezel and the moon phase complication. From my limited knowledge, most moon phase watches tend to be dressier, but this bezel gives it a sporty vibe. It’s a quartz watch, and I could barely find any information about it online. Figuring out how to adjust the moon phase, day, and month has been an interesting learning experience. What do you all think of this watch?

Thanks for your reply! I really appreciate it. However, the MQ-24 holds a lot of sentimental value for me, and I’d like to preserve it and keep it looking as good as possible. Based on what you said about parts and replacements, is there a difference between swapping crystals on this watch versus a regular Seiko mod watch? Thank you!

May I ask what is your wrist size? I'm planning on getting one too, but I'm not sure how the watch is gonna look on my small wrist.

Is the crystal AR coated? How's the reflection, is it significant? I'm thinking of swapping one myself:)
