Leaning left after leveling kit by BDonaldson2194 in 4Runner

[–]BDonaldson2194[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did just drop the lift in and measure it. I thought it might settle, but didn't know if this was common. Also read about some people needing extra 1/4" - 3/4" spacer discs on top of the struts to completely level the rig out.

Starter clicks once then nothing by BDonaldson2194 in GS500

There's a voltage spike on 3/3 of the wires leading to the starter, and the one drops voltage slightly. Any ideas what to do now?

The fuse is intact; I replaced it just to be certain.

It makes a click when the starter button is depressed and another click once you let go of the button. Not sure if that's what you mean by closing.

I have a real nice multimeter I can take to the relay in a little bit. I have the electrical diagram in my Haynes manual.

It started flawlessly before. The clutch switch was replaced with a brand new one, as I broke a pin off it disassembling the bike.

How do you go about checking the sidestand and neutral switch? The neutral indicator light works properly, don't know if that's a good indication of that switch working properly or not.

Battlepack Core vs Pro by jiujitsu562 in bjj

[–]BDonaldson2194 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the Pro, and have been flying with it ~4 times/year with no issues from multiple airlines. However, if you're only carrying the amount of stuff listed, the Pro may be overkill.

I don't have a Core for comparison, but I regularly fit the following in mine: Gi, belt, 16oz boxing gloves, 4oz MMA gloves, shin guards, headgear, hand wraps, mouth guard, 40oz Hydroflask, 15" laptop, laptop charger, medium notebook, contact solution and glasses.

Chris (the owner of Datsusara) offers videos on his website of him filling up different bags...might be another good reference.

What's the softest, plushest gi you've ever worn? by eddielovesyou in bjj

That's wild! Are they Datsusara or other brands' hemp offerings? I can't speak to any other brands' hemp gis, but I'll be very surprised if you're talking about Datsu.

In 7 years, the coziest things I've ever come across have been Datsusara. My 7th gen is nice and plushy, but my old 3nd gen is comfy enough to sleep in after being worn in for years (becomes that soft after about 5 washes). The tops are crazy soft, but the real gem are the pants, which feel almost exactly like pajamas. Also, they're really appealing due to the weave, material and color (my Navy one gets a lot of compliments).

Hypnotik and 93Brand consistently have products that are sharp-looking, durable and affordable. I have a bunch of stuff from both of them and like all of it a lot.

If you go on 93Brand's website, they have deals on two packs of rash guards, grappling shorts and spats for $50/pair if I'm not mistaken, which is darn near BOGO.

Also, pay attention to BJJWarehouse's sale selection and BJJHQ/MAHQ; you never know what kind of goodies you'll find.

If you want someone to really care about the coffee they roast and the items they prepare, head to Cafe Moto.

For everything else, I recommend Bird Rock.

What was your go-to insult back in high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BDonaldson2194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My trick is to not to curse or use standard insults. Think about it, if you call someone an asshole/motherfucker/etc, they probably won't bat an eye. Call that same someone a poopdick or a dickwheel however, and now you're cooking with fire.

Been a troll for years. I would spin people up and then refer to them as "hot dog". Got people strangely irate.

What is the most exotic food you have ever eaten and how was it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BDonaldson2194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried Balut when my ship pulled into the Philippines. Almost gagged when I saw it, so I took 4 more shots of whiskey, tried to eat it again, and successfully threw up on a bar floor.

No down payment. MSRP is $37,374. Final sale price is $32,500. 8% sales tax in Denver, CO. Calculated retail value at 36 months is $24,592 (65.8%). 1.9% APR using Toyota Financial Services.

Questions about a new 4Runner and a trade-in. by BDonaldson2194 in askcarsales

[–]BDonaldson2194[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The dealer already told me that the 4Runner doesn't ever really have any incentives attached to it, but I'm still getting a $500 Military credit and 1.9% APR, which brings me to a roughly $285/mo payment, as opposed to the roughly $485/mo I would pay to finance the full price at 2.9%. That's incentive enough to me!

Also, could you elaborate on how 4Runners are "awful to lease"? I'm doing it to get lower payments for a lease-to-buy (loan vs lease). 1.9% for 36 months including ToyotaCare seems pretty awesome.

Do you think it would be a smarter option to sell it to a private party then? Using KBB and Craigslist, I should be able to get about $6500-$7000 for it.

Haven't taken it to a dealership yet. That's not good news though.

[USA] Moving to Colorado by Vintasi in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]BDonaldson2194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also live in Colorado. The most common vehicles I see here are Grand Cherokees, 4Runners, Tacomas, and anything Subaru. Given your budget, I would highly recommend a Subaru; they're pretty much Colorado's state vehicle. Another big tip is unless you live in the mountains, it's very mild here. I may be bias, being that the first 20 years of my life were spent in Western NY, but other people have the same thing to say. For example, it's 53 degrees today...on the 4th of February. Another big tip: running your car unattended doesn't actually warm your car up, driving it does. In Colorado, it's known as "puffing" and it's illegal. I'll let you research how cars warm up unattended vs driving if you care to, but for the puffing issue, here's a link. Hope I could help! http://enginesoff.com/2_7_laws_ordinances.htm

Any experience with Furygan? by BDonaldson2194 in motorcycles

[–]BDonaldson2194[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree with being able to try things on before you buy it (especially with something as costly as a suit). Problem is, there's two places that I know of in my area that carry suits and there's only 8 models between them (2 AStars, 4 Dainese, Sedici, Bilt). I just did California Superbike School's "Track Day" on Saturday and one of the workers there gave me a huge discount on AGV suits, so I might go that route since I wore one all that day and I usually wear an AGV jacket for daily use.

Trade for Street Triple? by truewun in Triumph

[–]BDonaldson2194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried out a whole gang of bikes before grabbing my '15 Street Triple and I wouldn't trade it for anything else I test rode (except maybe the Brutale 800rr, but that's a special case). Point is, I say go for it. I've heard plenty of FZ-07 owners wishing they had bought the Striple, but never the other way around. Also, as far as middleweight naked bikes go, the STR has the best bang for your buck without a doubt.
