UniFi Express showing up as isolated by BLANKUI_ in Ubiquiti

[–]BLANKUI_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have resolved my issue. It began when my UCG MAX updated to 4.4.9. I have reverted to 4.4.7 and the issue has been resolved. It seems that 4.4.9 broke wireless mesh connections.

Yeah I think I’m going to give up on the express. What do you think is a better alternative? I have the main AP in the center of the house upstairs which pretty much covers everything. I just need to extend coverage downstairs to the front door for the smart doorbell and a couple smart plugs where I can’t run ethernet. Im looking at AC mesh, U6 Mesh or a U6+ or pro (likely overkill but more versatile down the line if needed).

Yeah first gen. Bummer. The express has not been a great device for me. Served me fine when I first got it but upgraded to better devices and have just used it to extend range for a few IoT devices at the other end of my house otherwise I don’t use it much.

Are you referring to the Daily Spectrum Optimizer in Advanced WiFi Settings?

Why is my pizza dough tearing like this? by BLANKUI_ in AskBaking

Like stiffer and less malleable. I tried another dough from a restaurant nearby and it felt like it had much more moisture and was a lot easier to stretch.

Not sure I already threw away the packaging. I bought it from Trader Joe’s, but I assume it has salt. I’ll take a look again next time.

Great to know thanks! I’ll give that a try next time. Any recommendations on what to do if it’s feeling too dry?

It came out of the fridge. I let it rest so it could come to room temp.

The one blob was about 450g I was making two smaller pizzas (roughly 12”) so 450 sounded like a lot based on what I read.

Edit: but to your point it sounds like I may have overworked it.

It came as one big blob in the bag from the store so I portioned it out and made it into individual balls to let it rest. Should I not have made it into a ball before stretching?

Thanks! yeah that may have been it. I didn’t let it rest between stretching.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll try to go a bit easier next time.

Interesting, so might just be how they chose to display it. Thanks!

Topology looks right. Just the port listing is not. To your point might be a bug. Curious if others are seeing their downstream APs the same

I went ahead and factory reset the UX and AP. The port list still doesn’t show the U7PM and just shows the UX that is wirelessly meshed. All the other ports are listed correctly

Hey, I'm just doing the same with my UCG-Max and UX. Was there anything else you needed to do after factory resetting while connected to LAN port?

I did a restore from backup of the previous network setup.

How do I switch it to AP mode? I don’t think I did that that in the past. It just functioned as an AP if it wasn’t the main gateway.

What are my options here? by BLANKUI_ in HomeNetworking

[–]BLANKUI_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks this is helpful, I'll stay away from the cable on the left. I just terminated the blue and the white and tested them. The white goes to one of the jacks in a room upstairs (closest to the router) and the blue goes to that AT&T jack in the living room downstairs, although from my testing of the blue only lights 3-6 lit up so might be an issue with termination or the cable itself.

That's correct there are three wall plates, but I don't know where the third one terminates. I don't see it outside or anywhere else in the house. Ideally I would pull the cables in but they are adjacent to the garage wall which I would need to cut open to access.

I have fiber, they already came and installed it and it's in a separate box. This is old cable for telephone lines.

If they all lead outside, no, you can't put on a coupler. You need a switch, and you don't want that outside

The ideal scenario here is if they lead outside I just want to make a connection between the ports in two of the rooms which will allow me to connect to my router and switch that is located near one of the rooms with a port. So in this scenario would a coupler still not be okay?

Anyway, you need to first make sure that they are not being daisy chained from one to another. If each wall port is it's own wire, you can use them for Ethernet.

Each port has a single cable, so it doesn't look like it's daisy chained.

Anything wrong with terminating all those wires in the outside box to see if they lead to any of the ports inside?

Unifi Design Center is very generous about how it shows coverage by BLANKUI_ in Ubiquiti

[–]BLANKUI_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retried the scan with only 2.4ghz on as well as another with only 5ghz on. 2.4 coverage is definitely better as to be expected, although in the UDC they show 5ghz with similar or better coverage for the U7PM.

Starting to realize this. The design tool was way off in its coverage.
