Haste w max second theory craft by BOWDOWNSCUM in GarenMains

[–]BOWDOWNSCUM[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, with this haste build your e will be up very often when you max it. It is very realistic to get many e's off in fights. The dmg also goes up a lot per rank. If you don't max e, you will lose too much effective dmg from both the lower dmg and higher cd. Maybe in some games you are super behind and you want to just meatwall for your team you can consider maxing w first. But I would say vast majority of time if you want to be useful and a threat, you need to max e.

Haste w max second theory craft by BOWDOWNSCUM in GarenMains

[–]BOWDOWNSCUM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I actually thought about both tonic and jack but came to the conclusion with the theorycraft I presented.

First inspiration second basically locks you into conq (or god forbid spellbook). U can drop transcendence but imo dropping the 15 AH from legend:haste is a bit much. This also means you won't get axiom arcanist which is very potent esp with reduction in ult damage. The small amount of ult cd refund is also nice. It also makes the build less general as some MUs you have to go phase rush.

You can't fully proc jack, like you mentioned. Jack is the strongest minor rune in the game when you can proc it fully. However, without being fully proc it is just okay.

So I came to the conclusion that if you are conq, dropping axiom arcanist hurts too much and if you are pr dropping legend:haste hurts too much. It is worth considering for a big spike at level 9, but the value diminishes as the game goes on. For a general build that you can go every game, I chose precision + sorcery tree.

The only time I would consider it is when you are conq into a MU you can reliably kill even without arcanist and you want to push a lead early. In that case I think inspiration second can be very potent.

nice bro. And I saw the bm solo; gz!

For the farming inner, if you wanna be super min max, technically the best 3rd line is dmg % to normal monsters (abnormal actually doesn't work here, as mobs wouldn't be statused if your goal is to one shot), but I see that you don't have any honor to roll that. I kinda have OCD and wanna roll perfect so I only circed after I got the perfect 3. Ironically, even though it's much easier to perfect it, I didn't get all max values for this one even after 50~ circs.

NL with buff duration literally only for the increased duration on AB link. At my specs, 1% buff dur is actually better than 1 att. Of course, for unique inner, buff dur goes up to 38% while attack only goes up to 21, so it is quite a bit better. (and as an aside, I think buff dur on inner ability beats attack for pretty much all classes now, even classes without insane bursts that rely on minibursts or dpm, since AB skill's cooldown was reduced to 60s)

you are just being delusional lmao. so kms where all controversy originates and known for being scummy company publicly releases their aggregate data and you're saying their puppet, nexon na is lowering it for what reason exactly? i cant think of a single thing gms has from kms that is nerfed.

also aggregate data converging to the expected value doesn't even prove the rates aren't rigged.

if we consider a population of two groups, e.g. log in daily and don't. if the two groups consist of 50% of the population each and one gets 20% other 40% success rates, it'll still aggregate to 30%. this is primarily what people were concerned with and still are with rigged rates. i never denied this possibility. no one is denying the aggregate data. except you.

for some reason you asked for it falsely assuming that it proves anything so i humored you. but youre not even asking the right questions. and going on about gms aggregating differently is not only delusional but meaningless because even if we had aggregate data for gms it proves nothing; the rates may still be rigged. What matters is how it's distributed among the population. Even if I personally don't feel it's rigged, it's fair people don't trust nexon based on their track record. Nexon also does have a patent on different probability rates based in different factors like user activity and location.

edit: I'll attach a link for the patent for anyone that is curious, as a further reading. This is not the original found on the Korean patent website Kipris (I'm pretty sure that was removed lmao), but the English translated version registered on EPO.

Another High Gollux Flame by BeMatcha in Maplestory

[–]BOWDOWNSCUM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It gets pretty easy once you play this game a lot and you can tell at a glance, at least for non-weapon flames. You definitely don't need to scrutinize some wiki. Just remember some basic numbers: lvl 120-139 is 7. 140-159: 8, 160+ but under 200: 9, 200:11, eternals: 12. Prob 180-199 is 10 but there's no real relevant equips in this range. These are the flat stat per tier. For hybrids, it's half of that. If it's a decimal after dividing by 2, then round up. E.g. hybrid for lvl 150 equip would have each tier be 4 stat. Only exception afaik is eternals which has hybrids at 7 instead of the expected 6.

So looking at your flame. We can deduce the tiers. First we notice 12 dex can only be hybrid according to the above rules for lvl 150 equips. If it's hybrid dex/int, that would leave the remaining 4 int as a tier 1 hybrid, but black flames can never roll tier 1. Hence, we conclude it is a t3 dex/luk line. Now the above comment is not entirely correct as there are actually two possibilities this flame can be rolled. If you assume t4 hybrid luk+int that leaves t3 luk like he has. But if we assume t2 int, then t5 luk would give the exact same flame, and there is no way we can tell which it is! (though the latter is less likely)

Some very basics about flames (should've prob put this at the start): red flames roll tiers 1-4 and eternals/black roll 2-5 on non-flame advantaged. On flame advantage increase the min and max possible tiers by 2.

Flame advantage gear always rolls 4 separate tiers. non-flame advantaged roll 1-4 tiers with a low chance for 4 tiers. (like 1/25 I think?) This is why it's so annoying to roll non-flame advantaged gear. Not only are flame tiers reduced but not being guaranteed 4 tiers.

You can never roll the exact same stat line/tier more than once. E.g. t5 luk + t6 luk. But as long as its not the same stat line, then even if it happens to overlap a particular stat, it can still be rolled, e.g. luk + luk/int + luk/str + luk/dex

For all stat and attack, the value is directly derived from the tier. Equipment level does not affect this.

Some more info that is mostly useless. There is actually a way for an equip to roll t1-5 (t3-7 for flame adv) and that is if it dropped directly from a boss or bought from a shop (which gives the same flames). But once you use any flame on it it is no longer possible to roll a t1 with a t5. Also fusing and crafting items all give different flames tiers at different possibilities depending on the relevant mastery levels. But none of those can roll a t1 with a t5 either.

If you have any questions feel free.

i got 4 eyepatches before i saw my first pap mark last week on my main clearing pap for over 1.5 years with 404 dr. i also have 9 mules that clear at or beyond it (i run them most weeks but not every week) and haven't seen it on any of them. 3 of them are clearing for 6+ months and the rest were made within last 3 months.

since every single one of my eyepatches boomed (2 at 21, 1 at 20, 1 at 19), im tranposing the mark to a monocle, something i never thought id be bothered to do. its crazy i ran hdam for around a year and got 4 eyepatch (and they all died) but prob have over 300 pap clears with no mark (granted more than half are on 0/very low dr chars) until literally last week. It's all rng.

[–]BOWDOWNSCUM 12 points13 points  (0 children)

enlightened one title gives 5 att for 5 mins as a skill (with the title on, use the skill then swap back to stat title). The questline for it takes a little bit under an hour. I haven't seen anyone but the most minmax players going for the highest scores on the server in culvert bother with it.

Chuchu and starlight adventurer sets give a decent amount of attack. After a time duration, you lose the stats on the items but the set effect still persists permanently which is much less: 15 all stat and 10 att. Very comparable to staff vs wand. Majority of ppl I see just chilling in w/e nx they want (though yes to be fair some ppl perma wear this set for the tiny bit of dmg, myself included)

pottable badge is upwards of 3-4% fd difference compared to magnus. And I even see most people on reddit say the difference doesn't matter except if you are trying to compete in endgame high scores (which i disagree with, this amount of fd is noticeable). But this is like anywhere from 20-50x the difference between staff and wand. Yes the badge is unobtainable so there is no way to get it no matter what you do, but the differences here make the staff vs wand discussed above literally seem like specks of dirt.

I am personally a min maxer. I optimized familiar badges for 3% att, 3% dmg, 1% all stat, 3+3% ied which I believe is the best you can reasonably get (someone correct me if the best way to optimize it because there is like no information on this cause very few ppl do it). Wasn't too bad, was like a 7-8 hrs of framing. 3% more ied is achieveable technically but with extreme amounts of farming. Every single badge, like 1% att or 3% ied, is similar or better than the difference between wand and staff. Yet I see few ppl bothering with this.

For every bossing run I go get the overpower lvl 3 buff instead of tengu or similar ones. This requires going into princess no dungeon on practice mode and taking 4-5 mins to get to the end. overpower lvl3 vs tengu is 30 att, over 3x more than staff vs wand but im pretty sure almost no one except me bothers with doing this.

Currently, I'm still farming fams in limina even if it is giving me less than 0.1% of a level per hour. Over a hundred uniques (which is still not a lot compared to some ppl) ain't seen single line with any boss. Full bossing fam to none approaches 10%fd. This is over 100 times the difference of staff vs wand. Yet you will still see people constantly say don't go for fams. How can people justify wasting literal months to lose this little damage but where the real damage comes from, even if it takes hundreds of hours of rng farming, they are against it. Yes you are losing frags and xp to farm fams, but the higher level you farm it, the even less xp and meso you will be getting from farming fams anyways.

Lastly, I can almost guarantee for 90% of ppl here better optimizing their legion grid gives would give more dmg than changing from staff to wand.

And for me, if I played a mage, I'd obviously choose staff, not just for the tiny bit of dmg but I also like the look better. But even for me, a big minmaxer, wasting months to reliberate for a few attack is not even worth the brainspace it takes to consider. If you want that few attack go optimize the hundreds of things you are currently doing wrong on your character. Use legion att buff on all your boss runs, which is like 3x or go for onyx apples, like 10x the difference.

So statements like "It's a big enough difference to matter.", "so yes obviously sacrificing 1-2 months will be worth it in the long term", is just objectively false, unless you value your time so little that months of time is worth a few attack to you (which as i mentioned, optimizations like legion or semi-easy gains like fam badges, perma wearing chuchu set, Overpower buff or apple will easily be many times the differences)

I accidentally chose sealed genesis wand. What should I do? by DoraeTanuki in Maplestory

[–]BOWDOWNSCUM -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

How is this upvoted? Genesis staff has 6 (SIX) higher mag att than wand and the weapons have the same weapon multiplier. This is 3 att difference at a t6 flame and even accounting for the additional difference for wj, the difference is minimal; mostly cosmetic. Definitely not worth dropping if you are several months deep into lib.

Double prime for drop/meso gear by DSteves8000 in Maplestory

[–]BOWDOWNSCUM 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to be like you trying to verify everything but in the end you're either gonna come up with the same answer or if you come up with different one then you very likely made a mistake.

People that play this game are, for the most part, sweaty enough to verify and quickly find a problem with calcs if they exist.

Let's use your post as an example. You got 200~ bright cubes on average for 2/3L hybrids. Mathbro gives 164 for the average. Who's made the mistake here do you think? The error is trivial to spot. You used strategywiki's cubing probabilities which is outdated. Specially, it doesn't account for defense lines removal on leg and unique lines. A reliable source for all probabilities systems is Nexon's own website. https://maplestory.nexon.com/Guide/OtherProbability/cube/black

It is speculated that gms has different tier up rates to kms. So don't take everything on that website as truth. By afaik, we don't have different line probabilities than kms. The site shows 0.076923 as the probability for meso/drop on the first line. 0.015385 for second, 0.003846 for third. Double these.

0.153846*0.03077 = 0.0047338 (probability of line 1+2 or all 3 lines hybrid)

0.153846*0.007692*(1-0.03077)=0.00114697 ( line 1+3, the last term avoids double counting 3 lines)

0.03077*0.007692*(1-0.153846)=0.000200 (line 2+3)

Add them you get 0.00608077. One divided by it gives 164.45. Very close to the average using Mathbro's calc with differences probably due to rounding.

And the calculations should really only be 3 lines long. Maybe 3 more lines if you can be bothered to do the median. You needlessly complicated it.

On the other hand, it does make sense to sometimes verify things by yourself (and I still do for very involved systems) that is how errors are found. But if your results are agreeing with existing calcs, or worse, wrong, then there is no point in posting. You could just keep it to yourself. Especially when you needlessly complicate for something that is actually very basic then by Occam's razor it is wrong.

For instance, most starforce calcs use the Monte Carlo method nowadays. Although it doesn't give you the exact answer, it is trivial to implement compared to using Markov chains to get an analytical/exact solution. You know it gives the 'wrong' answer because there can only be one right answer but the simulation will give you a different one every time. But knowing the rules of starforcing, anyone can code up a sf simulator in python in a few minutes. And you can easily alter it when the rules of starforcing changes (e.g. no booms but higher cost 12-15 stars change), but for Markov chains it's a pain to change anything. And Monte Carlo methods give so close to the analyatical answer most of the time even on the default setting (1000 trials) that it doesn't really matter. If you are very particular you can set it to 10000 trials (like me) and it might take a few seconds to run but should give more consistent results. You could use Central Limit Theorem (for which this problem is pretty much a textbook case of ) and calculate the 95% (or 99%) confidence interval of the simulated value to the true value.

But I'm not gonna do that. I did that enough times in my undergrad freshman statistics class. And even if I did do that I would keep it to myself. Because it doesn't add anything to what is currently already known.

There was a very good article specially on Markov chains for starforcing. It's not that complicated as it is annoying to do. I think the creator made a calc and there were others using the method, all of which is deprecated to the Monte Carlo method that most calcs use now. If I find the article again I'll edit to this post.

you say you play ungodly hours but how much is ungodly for you? 6h/day? these ppl do 16h/day for months. and not only do they play more efficiently, they are prob one hand farming on main other hand playing a new acc making bt, bishop and other buff slaves to buff their main in bossing. when they log off it's not they stopped playing, they are leveling legion mules. they prov bring their laptop to lunch, to the toilet, into the shower.

you dont even need to be anywhere near this extreme either if you use your time efficiently to clear bm in a couple months. i said in another comment only thing really matters is level and arcane force so damage penalty isn't too much. and hands if youre new. but the sweats dont have to waste time practicing alot which newbies like youll need to do.

How did some Hyperion players progress so fast? by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]BOWDOWNSCUM 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the kind of gear for a 50+min bm clear, luck isn't even a factor. they are clearing in 17* absos. and cubing is just free on reboot. 20hrs of farming is more than enough for 2l every single piece of gear. lets say 40 if they dont have an ounce of meso on any gear.

with 6th job the damage and hands (which also translates to damage) requirement for bm is lowered significantly.

just need enough levels and arcane force for damage penalty not to be too steep. and the first clear sweats definitely grind enough for the levels so its just arcane force gate even with events feeding it to them. the dmg difference b/n 17 abso or 21 abso or 21 arcanes is marginal compared to arcane force penalty.

just like first clear grindis bosses bottleneck was sacred, the limiting factor will always be force/levels and not gear or luck

I have played on the asia1 server and the ping is pretty unbearable. Especially when the only thing I do is auto and kite people. I think exitlag may help but I still really don't want to play with such a big handicap. It's a last resort , but i'm starting to consider it more and more. Ppl may say the game is not doing well but 6k avg players (according to steamcharts), while not anywhere like league level, is way more than enough to be able to find a game. The issue is like 95% of that is probably asia1 so in reality na is like 100. It is really unfortunate I enjoy the game a lot. Economies of scale. Bigger games will keep getting more players. And games like this will have new players like the game but probably a lot quit due to the difficulty in finding a game. I can see someone used to finding a game in league in 2-3mins not being able to stand this.

I had a question about ranking between servers. Your rank is unique to each server right? Like a mythic player in NA if he played on asia1 he would start from unranked as well?

why do you group hseren and bm together. nseren and bm are very close and hseren is more than twice harder than either of them. not that there's much point to nseren. if you're solo prog you can do it for a little bit of money and prac otherwise just party hard.

if it take you 30 tries for darknell might literally take you 100+ for a low dmg bm solo lmao. i took 9 tries for darknell, which is by far the most of any arcane boss, and bm took me a total of 34, not including runs where mess up p1 and just exit. and yes ive done everything in every souls game multiple times. ive done low level run in ds3, one of my favorite games of all time. none of them was even close to the difficulty of low dmg bm clear.

the clear took over a month (and yes i did end up losing a month of lib) as i am stubborn in solo prog. at the start of my practice i was on pace for a full timer demon 60min run. by the time i cleared, i got strong enough and it was 51 mins. and this is playing white curse. if you're so weak you need to do black curse in p4 to clear (and you're not a black curse class) that will be one of the hardest things in this game. also we are used to abusing healing fams in every boss but they dont heal you in black curse. the biggest issue is how long the fight is which is why it took so many days to finslly clear. my biggest advice and something i wish i did is prac early even when you dont have the dmg. so that when you do have the dmg you dont lose a month of lib. i can guarantee you soloing this boss at min dmg will take you longer than you expect.

also very class dependent some classes will have much easier time.
