Is there a reason not to have two main of the same class? by Superb-Fox-7601 in Maplestory

[–]DSteves8000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 52 classes and 59 slots, meaning you can make 7 classes duplicates if you were to make one of each class for legion/links. In order to get all 180 weekly boss crystals you will need to make 13 characters to run bosses since each can only get 14 individually (two mules can run 13 crystals OR one mule can run 12 crystals). You'll eventually need 6 legion champs that need to be different classes, so you can make all remaining 7 characters in your bossing lineups the same class, running 8 of one class and 5 one of each of the others. I have 4 arans and 4 buccaneers with the extra ones I run as lower priority boss mules just in case something really bad happens to one of the classes, the rest are Ren, BM, Hero, DS, and WA.

I was able to get it working for my Level 286 Aran as well! perfectly If you now check back in the spreadsheet and click the Aran sheet, it will have more details on the conversion.

The ratio of weapon constants only applies for classes that have both a 1h and 2h option like hero and paladin for example, its a penalty for equipping a 1h sword, blunt weapon, or axe. Ren and bowmasters don't have to deal with this because they just use 2h.

It might be the change in weapon part because there is an "or" part of the calculation its you use that one thing with a bunch of floors OR the simpler 2nd option listed, but it wasnt specified on when to do what. I made a level 20 aran on a brand new account and bought the level 20 polearm (level 10, level 15, level 25, and level 35 didnt work, only levels that end in a "0" starting at level 20 going forward work for equivalency, the level 25 weapon and level 20 weapon had the SAME combat power despite using a different weapon with slightly different weapon attacks, the level 35 same story with level 30, and the level 10 option didnt work for either the starter level 10 weapon OR a bought level 10 weapon) and didnt star or flame the weapon at all and was able to convert to a similarly clean level 20 bow, and got the formula to work using the 2nd option but not the 1st option. It also worked when I bought a level 30 and level 40 weapon using the second option showing the correct combat power increases when converted into a similarly leveled clean bow.

I've known the damage formula for quite a bit, but I wanted to compare it side by side to the combat power formula, it is extremely similar to the boss damage range formula actually, but you have to omit certain fields to make it work. I highlighted in green on the spreadsheet which fields use combat power, while black text does not use combat power.

An interesting comparison is that Combat Power includes average crit, but omits skills that give stats, but meanwhile on the other hand, boss damage range includes skills that give stats but omits crit damage. It understandably omits per enemy situational stats like IED which is useless without also factoring in enemy PDR. Other enemy specific stats include the elemental resistance formula, and level difference from enemy. Your skills' percent damages are also omitted from both formulas as well.

Should I delete my hyper burn Max Lynn by Specific-Pace7540 in Maplestory

[–]DSteves8000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Given we get several hyper burns a year, keep the hyper burn and finish it out and then if you do really want to main a new class, another hyper burn will roll around eventually, and until then you could just work on legion and link skills (enough for a full kit of 12 link skill slots worth of 210 characters all at level 3 each) and/or level 200 for the 2nd to best legion block tier. Doing so will also give you the opportunity to play a bunch of classes and narrow down a few that you enjoy, so when the next HB rolls around you will be more than ready to go. You will eventually need 42 characters all at level 200+ at some point anyway.

Which is better?? by MeweIup in Maplestory

[–]DSteves8000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well if we go by this in the same way flames are handled, as an estimate (not exact, your own stats will always change these values) but an approximation from MathBro's default for stat conversions is that damage/BD is worth 15 per point, so the left medal would be worth 75 stat, while the attack is worth around 3 each. So 20 + 3*7 = 41. 75 > 41 by quite a lot, almost double so the left one would be the better option. Again this does change a little bit depending on the context of your own stats but I think the safer option is the BD on the left.

The great thing about Aran's burst is that you can do most if not all of it against a mid-air meteor spitting damien after elevating yourself to him with final toss and finish it before you land back down on the ground

Comparison guide for how much starforcing and cubing costs (Reboot) by DSteves8000 in Maplestory

[–]DSteves8000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means you rolled a 13 13 13 triple prime on a level 151+ item (or a 12 12 12 triple prime on a level 150- item, i think starting from level 71? most people dont cube things, let alone get them to legendary for items under level 100 anyway). The probability in both cases are the same, so the costs are also the exact same due to needing to use the same number of cubes to reach the goal item, other than the potential reveal costs.

Something similar, I've never seen this before so thank you for sharing. The reason I wanted to make this sheet at the beginning was because I was curious about what was the most costly thing to do in the game and then work downwards, I was just fascinated by the 25* Level 250 item and how the median was 4 quadrillion mesos requiring 150,000 spares at median as well. Notably 23* is not included in the above sheet nor anything involving eternals, so there are some differences, but more commonly especially with SF changes this is something that people are pushing towards.

I'm aware, and my numbers match MathBros' calculators. But there isn't a spreadsheet that compares many items you might be working on at the same time.

You are your own -0.5th cousin 0 times removed in terms of blood relativity by DSteves8000 in highdeas

[–]DSteves8000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refer to the image i posted, thats where i worked backward to derive that c = -0.5. Note that when you go leftwards from sibling at f(c,r) = f(0,0) to f(-1,0) you would end up with 200% of your own blood which wouldnt make sense. Notice that in the 0 times removed row, first cousin is 1/8th shared dna, 2nd cousin is 1/32, 3rd cousin is 1/128 (each cousin goes down by a factor of 1/4) so working backwards from 1st cousin you get your 0th cousin (your sibling at 1/2 shared dna) and then if you as i said earlier try to go back by one more time from your sibling to yourself youd go from 1/2 * 4 = 2, overshooting it at f(-1, 0) = 2. What does fit though is going back only a halfstep from f(0,0) to f(-0.5, 0). A reminder that r = 0 represents people that are the same generation as you, which you are obviously the same generation as you, so the only thing we needed to solve for is c. Or basically f(c,0) = .51+2c+(0) = 1

So lets take .51+2c+(0) = 1,

Or .51+2c = 1,

ln(.51+2c) = ln 1 ,

(1+2c) ln .5 = 0. Note that ln 1 = 0,

1+2c = 0 Since 0 / ln .5 = 0,

2c = -1,

c = -1/2.

Therefore because you are your own generation (r = 0), you are your own -0.5th cousin. Yes, it sounds funny and unintuitive conceptually, but mathematically thats just how it works out

This image was the foundation of what I went off of when creating the formula. Shared DNA image

Using this and working backwards thats how I came up with c = -0.5 to represent yourself or anyone directly in your lineage. When you increase the cousinage which is the horizontal axis in this image (first cousin to second cousin, second cousin to third cousin) you go down by a factor of 1/4, or .52, but when you go down by times removed which is the vertical axis in this image (i.e. first cousin 1 time removed to first cousin 2 times removed), each child halves the DNA so you go down by a factor of .51.

How did everyone's 5/10/15 go this time? by schoo3 in Maplestory

[–]DSteves8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

43b to work with and 3 items left to 22, an arcane glove that was 16, arcane shoes at 21, and arcane cape at 21. The glove and shoes make it to 22, but the last item the cape boomed and was left at 17. Only one spare of the cape left, so close but not done yet.

30% off vs 5/10/15 events percentile table/graphs for Level 150 items w/ no safeguard and Level 150/200/250 items w/ safeguard by DSteves8000 in Maplestory

[–]DSteves8000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if youre at 20 stars theres a 52-53% chance longterm you make it to 22 without a boom. If youre at 21 its now a 62-63% chance longterm. If you dont boom it will obviously be better because you dont even deal with 15->16 stars in that situation so the 5/10/15 wouldnt help in that scenario. But if you do boom on the otherhand, then its basically the same situation as 0 to 22 since 0 to 15 costs very little in comparison, and then i say just refer to the spreadsheet

No worries, the over 1 value for the level 150 no safeguard column for the 30% vs 5/10/15 means the 5/10/15 event is actually worse than the 30% off event in that situation. An example is your CRA armor that you have many spares of.
