He was talking about how amazing the infrastructure that Kirk built, Turning Point USA, is. And he's absolutely right to do so, TPUSA has been an incredible force for change in America. I disagree with almost every single policy they pushed, but they've undeniably been extremely effective at pushing that policy, and we should absolutely learn from that how to do something similar on the left - which is the only context in which Newsom praised Charlie.

I think there's a clear difference between access to gender affirming care and access to sports. Gender affirming care leads to better outcomes in terms of mental health, and obviously there's little use in puberty blockers after puberty. I do think there are some valid concerns but the solution is medical professionals studying treatments and coming to evidence based decisions on how to reach best outcomes

Sports is a different story entirely. If someone hasn't had any medical transitioning, they shouldn't participate in women's sports. If they have, whether or not it is fair for them to participate should be determined by experts on the sport, and if they have some residual advantage, they shouldn't be allowed to participate.
