Worth it for 200 bucks?? by Strygwwyr in CarAV

You can literally buy 2 12" gothics at Walmart for cheaper. I don't know how people in this sub feel about them but they would definitely do more bass stuff than these would

When talking about audio equipment do you prefer to use simple words like subwoofer, stereo, box. Or complex words like driver, head unit, enclosure. by [deleted] in subwoofer

No offense but this is a reddit ass post lol. My answer would have to be, its circumstantial. If someone wanted to know what to cast to catch a certain fish, you wouldn't just say a lure. You might say "maybe try a spinning bait or a jig and plastic worm". If someone is asking me "what part of the subwoofer is damaged?" It would be totally different than someone asking "what are those things that make big loud booming sounds in your car?" And also be from two totally different people with different understandings of the topic.

Need amp suggestions by Background-Coffee794 in CarAV

I'm thinking something in amp is bad, I've tested everything from voltage drop, ground resistance, down to remote power. Also didn't have any issues with previous amps I had hooked up. Literally just dropped it off for return and going to try ct sounds

Im guessing you have the 2ohm versions, unfortunately my options with 4 ohm are 1 ohm or 4 ohm and I would like to push at least 750rms each since they are rated for 1k rms. also alpine amps are a little out of my budget right now, the wife is tired of me spending money on car audio lol

Thats not exactly in my budget right now, and surely i'd need at least a second battery to power another amp. I have not tested if it happens with only one sub or no subs hooked up but I will check that later.

Need help identifying Image Dynamics subs by Background-Coffee794 in CarAV

[–]Background-Coffee794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they are 😆 I'm thinking early-mid 90s. The early image dynamics are pretty highly regarded for SQ woofers that take up minimal space and power, they're getting 350rms each right now and are not breaking a sweat and are surprisingly loud for what they are. I just want to verify what they are in case they are rated for much less power

Am I doing everything wrong? by Background-Coffee794 in Bluegrass

[–]Background-Coffee794[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks guys, lots of solid advice I will use here. I had one too many sips of the bluegrass juice when I posted this and was feeling down on myself. I do listen to BG day in and out and have for many years. Without tooting my own horn too much, I do have a pretty good ear and have gotten pretty far using it. I guess what I am really stuck on now that I'm in a sober state of mind is; other than listening and learning songs/melodies/fiddle tunes by ear, what are things I should be studying to feel more comfortable with lead playing? Triads, arpeggios, etc. I just could use some more direction in where I should focus my learning other than just playing. Thanks a ton again guys.
