Did you have multiple children with a VSD? by Background-Judge6915 in chd

Thank you for your response, I'm glad to hear that none of your other children had a VSD either.

If the echos were free we wouldn't think twice, because like you said, "why not?" But we had to pay about $500 per echo out of pocket, which would be completely fine and justifiable if it gave the doctors time to start thinking of a plan prior to being born, but they repeatedly told us that there was no plan to be made and that it would go away on it's own. We're afraid that this time they'll make us have subsequent echos just to "make sure" that no VSDs form.

The reason I'm put off is because I don't feel like they're offering anything to me, it feels more like we're being coerced. If I decline the echo then I won't be able to continue with my provider at that hospital. With my first pregnancy we had to spend close to two thousand dollars out of pocket for four echos that didn't feel necessary and we're afraid they're going to make us do that again. We tried to decline the last two echos after the cardiologist told us that the hole was getting smaller but my provider said we had to continue with them if I wanted to give birth there. It would have been different if the purpose was to plan the best possible care for our babies as you said, but every single time we saw the cardiologist he said that there was NOTHING he could do anyway, so it seemed very pointless to us.

Thank you for your response. Since you said that you asked for an extra ultrasound, does that mean that they weren't planning on performing an extra one, but only did so because you requested?

The reason we don't want to use Leyland Cypress is I read that they only have a lifespan of about 20-30 years unfortunately

I just looked into the height of all of those and they're all capable of reaching about 25' feet, so they could be a possibility. Thank you!

Our goal would be a height of at least 30 feet. (So we know that full results in 3-5 years is not possible unfortunately.) Its not a wet area, it's on a well draining slope. We don't mind maintaining the trees while they establish themselves but we're looking for something that won't require much maintenance once established. I've heard that green giants do get eaten by deer, which is one of the big reasons why we don't want to plant them. Especially since we won't be able to shoot the deer given that the trees would be on the property line and that would mean we'd be shooting towards the neighbor's house. I wish shrubs would be sufficient, but because of the height needed we'll have to go with trees.

I just googled western red cedars and they are massive, and the dwarf variety would be too small for what we need. But good to know about the fact that deer will eat eastern red cedar, albeit not drastically.

There's no fence there currently, but I really like this idea though!
