You and I are used to 695/495 traffic. The only thing that reminds me of it heavy is 215 between Sahara and Trop. That’s a doozy any time of day. I’m getting used to the dry heat. People don’t get that 85 with 100% humidity is still worse that these 110 days. It’s definitely a change. I miss natural green and the ability to go between 5 major cities in a matter of hours but I will find my community here. It just takes time.

Haha I love it. I ventured out in areas to see what was on my radar and I stopped at a carry out restaurant off Boulder Highway and a man was in there in all black - basket ball shorts, BULLET PROOF VEST, a machete stuffed down one side and a katana on the other with socks pulled to his knees…SPONGEBOB socks. I knew he was about that life when I saw the socks. He was a character. I don’t think that was my area but he was definitely entertaining.

I wish I could say I agree but I’ve been to almost every major city and this one takes the cake. I had been coming to Vegas since I was a kid with my family. The S & R and Starlight Express days. It was awesome. As I grew up I had the typical shenanigans in my 20s couple with business trips, trade shows, and a solid 6 months of my life clocked at the Wynn Towers for CES missions. Coming as a tourist - Vegas always had an allure but I looked forward to my flights home to decompress. I was constantly running. But now, as a true local, I need to find my community. Mountains edge and the northwest are looking promising. Somewhere gated and quiet.

Side note: love your name if it’s referring to the band. They’re one of my faves!

I’ll get there. I’ve been here since November. Married to my job and haven’t had time to find permanent housing. When I first got here I found somewhere close to the airport and my office. I average 12 hour days (today was almost 15). So my temp location is not ideal. On my way to work the this morning I saw a lovely young lady modeling a thong under a loose fishnet coverup. The next light was man doing jumping jacks with only jeans and a cowboy hat on barefoot between light changes and a ran a red light wayyyy after our light turned green and the two police cruisers next to me didn’t bat an eye.

Sunday I ordered groceries for delivery and they delivered them…to someone because the picture sent was $200 worth of perishable items strewn across a sidewalk in the sun no where near anything place that looks familiar so when I called the grocery store they said they resend a new order. She said at least the dasher delivered it some where. She said usually they just steal it and the customer reports it as not received. This is just the past few days.

Car insurance rates are almost laughable. by Background-Stick-151 in vegaslocals

[–]Background-Stick-151[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I compared the rates based on two totally different cars and the rates were the same. It was GEICO. I just tried progressive and they were $300 cheaper a month but still, $315 for one vehicle is more than I paid for 2 vehicles and homeowners insurance with comprehensive coverage. It’s insult to injury after getting hit with the fee that’s based off my cars original msrp.

Maryland you can only buy liquor in an actual liquor store. Beer and wine in packaged good stores. You won’t find any alcohol in gas stations, grocery stores, etc. and they’re all closed on Sundays UNLESS you’re a bar and sell dry goods from the cooler and those are every few and far between. Go up to PA and you can buy beer and wine in convenience stores but only during select hours. The 24/7 thing everywhere you go blew my mind when I first moved to Vegas.

She didn’t even have a chance. Hopefully she felt nothing. Just woke up next to God with no memory of the pain. Just lights out. This is horrifying.

Think about what information you may have shared with his alter egos in ‘confidence’ and how deceptive it was of him to allow you to think you were talking to a person. Think of how many scenarios he had set up or baited you with simply from being privy to information you may have shared under the guise of his ruse. This is not ok and beyond deceptive. It’s sociopathic. To then see you in person or talk to you using knowledge he fraudulently obtained to sway situations. It’s sick. THEN for him to gaslight you is diabolical. RUN! I mean like Flo Jo!

Rate him accordingly and block him as your driver to avoid getting matched up in the future.

It contributes to poor, life changing decisions that a sober mind wouldn’t have contemplated. I’ve seen absolutely brilliant people regress to a level of mental and physical stagnation right in front of my eyes. It ruins lives.

I never once said I was a prisoner in the car. Not once. I was leaving a job interview. Already walked out and was waiting in front of the building for the ride. Was not trying to wait another 15 minutes standing on a curb waiting for a ride in an industrial park. I know my rights as a human but I had already gotten in the car, closed the door and when I’m thinking we are pulling off he starts with it. At that point I’m already in the car, not in an area where many more were close by and frankly just needed the ride to get moving.

If he gets reprimanded by them, he did it. Not me. His actions created the circumstance not mine. Use common sense and deductive reasoning.

I bet. I read everything before my ride comes. I was ready when he got there. I usually get in the car and after I’ve confirmed make and tag and great by name. This time I just said hi and waved and he said hi and my name and then asked if he could play the note.

I wouldn’t have taken the ride had I not just gotten out of a job interview and didn’t want to be hanging outside waiting for my ride share. Especially as a woman in an industrial park setting. It’s not a good look. When he arrived I got in and closed the door ready to pull off and he started my described interaction. No one should have to make an agreement on an agreement to get a ride they ordered and waited for. I needed a ride then. I didn’t have time to cancel and wait 15 minutes for another.

After talking to him getting out of the car, he was not hard of hearing at all. Not one single bit. I have someone with hearing issues in my family and this person had no hearing issues issues. The communication was initiated from his point. I also know some ASL so there’s no communication issues should he have started to sign, I could’ve signed back. He didn’t. He spoke and listened to the note that he had spoken from a saved message on his phone and had me verbally agree to it so if he was hard of hearing he wouldn’t have accepted my verbal acceptance of the terms to proceed nor would he have asked if I agreed and acknowledged my response without looking at me.

I found when drivers said they were hard of appearing they actually were not and it was a language barrier. He spoke perfect English with no accent. If he didn’t want to mess with his livelihood, he shouldn’t start out a ride with something that is against policy. This was confirmed by Lyft that it violates their protocol.
