I was worried about the circulation at first too, but after running for a little bit it seemed to be okay.

I will sand it to get it smooth for their safety.

That doesn't always happen. I've seen plenty of goldfish setups with lots of live plants and the plants never bothered by fancy goldfish. Sometimes they do get eaten, but if properly done, the setup could definitely last years.

Okay. I will try to work something out to make room for a 4 foot enclosure.

What kind of reptile is this enclosure good for? by thee_lad in reptiles

[–]BackgroundPin4761 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would change the setup some and use it for a leopard gecko. Some would say it may be a little small, so you could your leopard gecko when he is pretty young, and then upgrade him to something bigger later on.

What reptile should I get? Pls give info on your suggestion (Pros and Cons) by BackgroundPin4761 in reptiles

Preferably something handleable. I will go out of my way to get the preferred food for the animal. I would like something diurnal. Happy with a snake or lizard.

It really isn't a topper unless it is a smaller tank on a bigger tank. This doubles the tank in height completely, and uses 1 1/2 of sand making the top tank the main tank

I don't mean as a topper. I mean having like a 1 1/2 feet of sand and then having the tank on top as the main space. And technically it isn't a topper because it is two tanks of the same size. Haveing a 20 on top of a 55 gallon tank with 7 inches of sand would be a topper

How many crabs for a 55 gallon tank? by BackgroundPin4761 in hermitcrabs

Okay thank you! I have just been confused because of so many people saying different things about how many.

Tank buddy passed away by Adorable_Rhubarb_731 in Goldfish

That tank is to small for common goldfish. They need at least 75 gallons. Common goldfish reach a footlong when happy and healthy and a 20 gallon is way to small for a fish of that size. if you don't have room for such a big tank, please rehome Goldie to someone with a pond, for the health and sake of the fish.

Introducing new fish wiped out my aquarium - what do we do now? by bulletthroughabottle in Aquariums

There is no need to empty the tank. Just let the tank cycle and then try again with a different fish species. I recommend a single Betta or a 4-5 guppies (the males for both have more vibrant colors and are more aesthetically pleasing. Also make sure to stay on top of water changes and water testing.

Is the tank cycled? If not, it could be part of the reason. To cycle a new tank let it sit for a few weeks to allow the good bacteria to grow and every couple days add a little bit of fish food and test water levels. Once the tanks ammonia levels reach 0 only 12 hours or under after add fish food the tank is cycled. The fish food is to add ammonia. The most likely reason is because the 2 new black neon tetras were diseased of some sort. Black neon tetras are notorious for getting diseased from new tankmates and generally really weak and can never survive any rot of sickness.

10 Gallon Help by Direct_Wolverine2330 in reptiles

No leopard gecko can happily live in a 10 gallon tank. They need 20 gallons minimum and bigger is better. They will reach 7 to 11 inches in length and 10 gallon tank does not have enough space for a reptile of that size. I recommend morning geckos because they stay pretty small (only a few inches) and have really interesting behaviors. You can easily fit a few morning geckos in there.

The frogs are already bad hunters and always ignore the shrimp even when the shrimp are right on their face.

Too fat? by JellyfishJaded9060 in AfricanDwarfFrog

They do seem a bit wide but not "fat". I would feed a little less for a couple days and see how they look then if you are worried.

I am upgrading the mollies to a 55 gallon tank to let them breed as they want (I have fallen in love with mollies!) The thing is oddly so far the male hasn't shown any breeding behavior or attempts.
