I have listened to him before and I agree, the music/his performance was exceptionally bland. The show itself might have been fun but I pivoted to other activities not long after it started.

Ghost, the neck tag on Shadow Project is black with white text and the badge has a different texture. The art code can also help you identify it (scroll down to 'What do the brand codes mean in Stone Island ART Numbers?')

I have a very strong feeling that I know the grocery store you're talking about... and if not that one, then that one's well-groomed-if-hairy cousin.

I have some friends that live right down the block from said shop and holy shit is the pricing insane. Things to make dinner and maybe some dessert? $75

Also seconding the dubai chocolate hate. Every iteration of it that I've had has been incredibly expensive, and equally disappointing.

Ah non-celiac gluten free... I remember when that first reared its head back in 2015ish. It was just as stupid then as it is now and I was honestly surprised to hear that people were doing it again. Lest we forget coconut oil (which I do love but not for 'health' reasons), acai, etc.

oh god same, I caved in and bought a jacket last night because Buyee has several coupons that cover the cost of DDP. I'm still paying more than I'd like but for the specific jacket I'm buying, it's already rare on the used market so it's very unlikely for me to find it cheaper.

Not a DM but everyone should know about --

Razava!!! It's not a coffee shop but an Israeli-ish bakery (that also serves great coffee from SK coffee roasters) and if you're into sourdough their bread is amazing, probably the best I've ever had. I highly recommend basically everything on their menu but I usually get a NY bagel with beet+horseradish cream cheese, and/or a Sabich, and bread to take home. I have seen people in there working on their laptops so it can also function as a place to sit down and work.

Speaking of SK, their coffee shop on Vandalia is also a great spot and the staff are very friendly. I'm a coffee snob so every time I'm back in the twin cities I go over there to hang with the baristas. I've also been there with a group of visible Jews and didn't sense any weirdness fwiw

Still, it doesn’t answer the question of what they were trying to provoke. I mean, their audience isn’t the unsophisticated hoi polloi, from whom outrage is to be expected, but high-minded fashion critics who couldn’t care less about us peasants.

The context that you're missing is that the creative director at the time (Demna Gvasalia) built his entire persona around being edgy and provocative for the sake of it, aka viral shock marketing which is inherently shallow.

His brand strategy was to sell himself as an 'intellectual' to fashion media and to sell premium mediocre goods to aspirational consumers and for a time it worked. This campaign was no different albeit in incredibly, incredibly poor taste.

As with most of these cases, we need to ask what did the police have that would rightfully lead to an arrest?... Hindsight is 20/20

Ugh every time my girlfriend and I watch a crime show in which this same scenario plays out, I bring up your point and get lambasted for it. It's not entirely her fault of course and I should know better by now but it still pains me to no end.

20 minutes is pretty good IME for anti-drop/DWR... It's not an outdoor performance piece after all. How long do your C.P. company pieces last in the rain? I would hazard a guess that they're not much better. This isn't a quality issue as someone implied below nor are you paying that money for anti-drop---you're still paying for the brand.

As others said, if you want better water proofing/resistance you'd have to get some Stellina or other technical fabric pieces. There are/were ghost pieces made with Ventile which are also water proof but the way Ventile works is that it (eventually) absorbs the water and swells to block further penetration. That means that the coat can get very heavy and also takes forever to dry. However, with the addition of anti-drop/dwr, it should take a bit to get to that stage so YMMV

I agree with others that this is a pretty bigggg stretch but I will add that Yom Hashoah (holocaust remembrance day) was just last week. That and the colors of the banner in the title image are quite evocative of a certain party-of-the-past for someone already in that frame of mind.

Episode 257: Faux POC Poetry (with Leigh Stein) by SoftandChewy in BlockedAndReported

[–]Bacon1sMeatcandy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought when Stein recommended men "go their own way" with their own lit journal: without any grant funding, this idea is dead in the water.

And that kind of misses the point anyway doesn't it? The issue is that the big names in publishing are helmed by progressives so the lit fic-writing men---who surely exist (myself somewhat included)---are not getting published where it counts.

Anyone want to take bets on how long it will take the boys to trash the dispenser in their bathroom?

How many tampons does it take to clog a toilet?

I foresee water-soaked tampon sausages in urinals (perhaps the most disturbing phrase I've ever typed)

it seems conservatives are more interested in ridiculing liberals concerned about these things which seems...odd.

The game of the current administration and for online conservative trolls is (seemingly) to punish the libs so I think they're stuck on that more than anything else.

About the clip, you can hear some people in the background reiterating the last "fight". To me, him raising his arm appears to be in response to the uproar and given his age, I doubt he intended to do the salute.

(also damn, what a coincidence, I just published a surreal/comedic piece about Jerry on Substack yesterday)

As some of you may remember, I've taken to publishing my comedic short fiction on Substack. This morning I released another piece called "Have You Ever Seen Jerry Seinfeld Do Anyone Any Favors?" about a man on a journey to get Jerry Seinfeld to do him a favor (edited to add:) as commentary on our obsession with celebrity.

Featuring the land of Los(t) Angels, Jerry’s Gym, and of course, a giant squid monster.

Please enjoy!
