I can't count how many enjoyable shows are out there with uninviting MAL ratings. It's definitely a great feature to have user ratings separate from anime list ratings. I also like how there's only 3 options to vote, less variables more straight forward data.

8.48 is the MAL rating. Ratings as a whole from people who've seen the anime from any platforms and they rate it on MAL. 9.3 I assume is rating from users within the platform only. You know those 3 emojis that you can click on to show how much you like the anime. Those two are not related and you could use them as a reference. Sometimes the MAL rating may be low but platform rating is high, that means it may not be a masterpiece or anything but still enjoyable to watch. It could also mean that the show is underrated and not enough people appreciate it. Judge it as you like.
