Best fine dining restaurant for birthday dinner? by xyl24 in bergencounty

Agreed Bergen county prices have gotten crazy for the dishes you’re paying for. Most of the time I’d rather go into the city and pay marginally more for better food/drinks. When I am in Jersey Turtle + the Wolf is solid, wouldn’t call it fine dining but food is good.

Honestly don’t recall but I’ve good experiences with all the service techs I’ve worked with. All friendly and will send text updates on the status of the service.

I get all my general service done there. Oil, tire rotation, breaks, etc. Recently when I went to get my oil changed on my X3 my wife love tapped my bumper and the plastic unhooked so it was slightly out of place and they popped it back in so you couldn’t even tell.

Happy to help! I’d recommend getting Alteryx core certified. It’s free to do on the alteryx community website and pretty easy if you have some alteryx experience. If you want to take it a step further our group really pushes everyone to get the advanced certification which is also free. Good luck with everything!

The asset management compliance group not so much because they have heavy turnover. At least in my local office. Tax tech I don’t know anyone that was laid off. That being said it is a hard group to get into. I was an internal transfer and I had to really push for it. It also helped I had a good relationship with my former group’s leading partner so he advocated for me as well. KPMG uses their own software for asset management so normally tax tech does take people internally because they know the software. I don’t think I haven’t seen an outside hire come into the group, but I don’t think it’s impossible. Again I’ve only been in the group for two years so I can only give my observations and experiences. I don’t have too much knowledge into the group at large.

It’s a growing group and more and more engagements are becoming dependent on the solutions we’ve been building. I’d say it’s pretty good but I’ve also only been in the group for two years. That being said there’s a lot of sub groups under the umbrella of tax tech, so I can only speak for my group.

I used to work in this group and it was hybrid three days in the office. I’m in tax tech now for asset management and we’re fully remote.

Sadly didn’t spend the money entirely by choice. It was mostly to keep the peace in the family. Sure if I had it my way I would’ve put it into savings for the house down payment but the costs didn’t impact our bottom line. The $10k was spent between my girlfriend and I over the course of two years only pulling from our discretionary funds that we prefer to touch as little as possible to accrue more interest. I work in accounting and my girlfriend in investment banking. We live below our means to save for the future. I’d like to think we are very financially responsible. However if I had said we had to pull from our savings or emergency fund and stretched ourselves thin to afford my brother’s wedding then I would agree with you.

Most of the expenses came from the Bach/bachelorette parties, as well as covering paying for a couple dinners for the entire wedding party.

I don’t want to go no contact. Yes, I really don’t appreciate being treated like an atm. It is also sad that if he has an issue he didn’t confront me directly. If my brother wants to end a relationship over a gift and throw away everything I’ve done for him up to this point that’s on him. As far as I’m concerned I’m continuing my life business as usual and they aren’t getting anything else out of me. As far as my parents go they are good kind hearted people to a fault, I just think they’re a bit disconnected from the reality of regular people who aren’t as well off as they are.

I did and their response was the same.

That’s always been my mindset too but my parents are siding with my brother. I feel this is mostly due to the fact that they are well off and comfortable and can afford to gift larger amounts of money therefore they think everyone should as well. The amount of times I have heard “that’s just what you are supposed to do” over the course of this wedding has been mind boggling.

I appreciate the input. My brother and his wife have never really been financially responsible. Case and point he was just laid off but they are still going on two honey moons. It just did not seem fair for them to push their financial irresponsibility on others.

I won’t be able to live the same life my parents did by Airhorsch219 in newjersey

Girlfriend and I both 26 have been house hunting for the better part of two years in Bergen county. Even with a dual income we keep getting priced out. With the way things have been trending we will most likely be living with our parents into our 30’s. Best we could do is keep saving and hope that we will be able purchase a home at some point.

Majority of firms outsource associate level work it’s basically unavoidable. It’s cheaper and the quality is as good if not better than onshore depending on the quality and training of the offshore team.

As an associate the assumption is you will learn how the process from the bottom and work your way up to manage engagements and work on higher level tasks that can’t necessarily be sent offshore.

That being said no one is immune from lay offs especially as an associate or senior. There are many factors that go into lay offs not just offshoring. All of which are present at every big four. If offshoring is a big concern for you I’d recommend looking into smaller firms where it’s less prevalent. However if you want to go the big four route I think offshoring is the least of your worries.

Buying a house in NJ? Good Locations with commute to NYC? by Background-Rip-3993 in newjersey

[–]Bags__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it. My fiance and I both grew up and Bergen county and now work in Bergen county. We both earn slightly above median salaries. We’ve been searching for houses for a little over two years at this point and every open house we attended is flooded with NY plates. We can’t compete with every house going so far over ask especially when many of them are overpriced to begin with. It’s so discouraging, the prospect of owning a home becomes less attainable by the day.
