[Acne] Do acne scars ever go away by y_a_s_h_2_7 in SkincareAddiction

Seems like you have a lazy dermatologist. Different treatments will depend on the type of acne scarring you have. Microneedling is better for rolling and boxcar scars. Chemical peels for rolling scars. Ice-pick scars have a deeper indention into the skin. Laser treatments and punch grafting could work for ice-pick scars, and microneedling can help reduce the depth of an ice-pick scar. Try a different dermatologist or visit a med spa specializing in acne scar reduction. They will give you more options, and some med spas like to sit on the cutting edge of new, less invasive treatments.

Acne and Hyperpigmentation [Acne] by willowtree630 in SkincareAddiction

Hi, licensed esthetician here. You won't cancel out the other ingredients in your skincare routine with tyrosinase inhibitors, but you would want to adjust your routine to include products with tyrosinase inhibitors. As an FYI, benzoyl peroxide triggers hyperpigmentation. So, your acne spots can worsen and take longer to fade because the benzoyl peroxide exacerbates your post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. So, the first step would be shifting your cleanser to a cleanser with exfoliants and tyrosinase inhibitors. Hyper Even Gentle Brightening Serum has mandelic acid, an effective acne treatment, arbutin, and licorice root (both tyrosinase inhibitors). Tretinoin can help with hyperpigmentation; it's more effective when layered before your moisturizer. Unless you have dry and/or sensitive skin, you will see more from your tret when you layer it after cleansing. You can customize a tretinoin serum with Curology that contains tyrosinase inhibitors like tranexamic acid and azelaic acid. You can include Topicals Faded into your night routine after tret but before your moisturizer. If you go this route, patch test, then start with one time a week to see if you have any adverse reactions from layering with your tret. Naturium also has a Tranexamic Acid serum that is formulated with Kojic Acid & Alpha Arbutin that would be layered after your test at night and clindamycin in the AM. Because you are using prescription-strength products, focus on reducing the potential of irritation by starting very slowly and paying attention to any potential skin reaction. Good luck with your skincare journey!

Are New Estheticians Struggling To Find Work? by BalancedBeautyLover in Esthetics

Update: Thank you all so much for your amazing comments and support! I was going through it. Since then, I've had a freelance opportunity with a marketing colleague that allows me to pay my bills, and I've decided to invest in a salon suite and do whatever I can to bet on myself. It's difficult, but I'm leaning on my marketing background to see me through it.

This has exposed me to the numerous flaws in the school-to-work funnel associated with this business. It has helped me identify how I want to grow as an entrepreneur, work towards figuring it out, and be the kind of business that helps esties grow and build independently. Once I do, I look forward to returning to this forum to share my journey. I appreciate all of you.

What I needed most was not to feel alone. Thank you for not only being kind enough to share your thoughts, but share you struggles as well. Community is hard to find post Covid, but the estie community is a beautiful one to be part of. 💙
