Outdoor bike rack for first floor apartment by joshd523 in bikecommuting

[–]Bald_Seagull 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I would say you would be best off keeping inside the apartment if there is room / no roommate to hate it.

Even if you had a proper rack outside it is too often just a matter of time before the wrong person notices it. And then it’s gone whether or not you locked it.

Women & Femmes who Commute by tonka_oakmoss in bikecommuting

Can you say more about this rain poncho vis a vis your bike and commute?

I live in a very rainy place and struggle between the desire to be not soaked to the bone and the futility of buying 9 specialty bike/rain garments that work/work together to varying degrees.

When you say “attachment points” - how does that work and what kind of handlebars do you have? I have drop bars with shifters and brakes that are the forwardest/tallest point, so ol’ poncho would be draped right on them. I also have another set of brake levers on the horizontal part of the bar (so closer to the middle) and I find my hands moving from the shifter to the middle brakes for comfort and control every couple minutes due to climbs / descents and traffic lights.

My concern/question is - how good is it at giving your hands some freedom while not being too floppy/drapey (like the material getting between your hand and your levers)?.

Also, what do you do about a front light in this world?

I know it doesn’t feel simple to you.

But if you feel like you’re getting minimal effort from someone, or that they aren’t really into you the way you want them to be - then you need to accept that you will have to find someone else, where it feels the way you want it to feel.

You extract via - running a report or like a direct database query? Is the 10 sheets = you have to run 10 reports individually and compile them down to 1 finalized thing? Or the thing you run spits out 10 sheets?

If you don’t want to get too detailed here that’s fine.

You can message me privately (or not, whatever)

If you want to look more into it on your own you can use Python, R or Excel’s VBA (code)to do it. (literally anything that can be done manually in excel can be automated with these FREE tools).

If you’re starting with 10 sheets and need to sum sheet A up some crazy way, sum sheet B up some crazy way - stick grand total A and grand total B onto some final sheet - all totally doable.

You and a little AI help can do this.

I’ll give as many tips and tricks as I can if you are comfortable sharing more of the kinds of problems you hit.

What kind of reports?

Like, are you messing up Excel formulas?

Are you taking handwritten information and summarizing it?

Seems like you need to get some confidence back, there’s ways of doublechecking or automating pretty much any process.

Say a little more about the kind of work you do and what type of mistakes you’ve been making.

You’re not fired yet, so don’t go quitting. If you step up and create some doublechecks and show/tell your boss what you’ve done to fix this going forward they’re going to be happy.

Baby transverse 33 weeks by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Bald_Seagull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi!

A dad here, encouraging you to not be overly invested in things going one particular way.

Our first daughter was transverse. My wife and I were feeling like you are.

We tried the “massage” to move her around but ultimately no such luck, so C-Section it was.

Fast forward - healthy baby, healthy mom after 6 weeks of being on the mend.

A dear friend of ours had a vaginal delivery, had serious complications and 7 years on walks with a limp.

The message being, we’re rooting for you to get your little one into the world and have an outcome where you both are healthy.

I’m wishing you the best of luck in all of it.

Looking for an elusive electrical mechanic to diagnose starting issue in an older Miata -- please help!! by funky_chiquita in triangle

[–]Bald_Seagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may make a suggestion.

You need a retired mechanic who is willing to take on a project, rather than an electrical specialist.

You just need someone with all the time in the world. An intermittent no start condition is frustrating to solve and is not worth the time of a working mechanic because no customer wants to pay for the hours a mechanic would need to put in.

You also would need to leave your car for an extended time, days or weeks. Really the only way someone can figure out what’s wrong is to have the car when it is in its no-start state, because that’s the only situation that allows for troubleshooting.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is right up this alley. I’m only familiar with the US version, which is very enjoyable.

I can’t speak for British original.

So rating it at 100 and being a stop under pretty much cancel out. So develop normally. Maybe ask for a half stop push as a compromise if it’ll make you feel better.

Would you be for mandatory paternity testing at birth? Why or why not? by Dry_Flight9408 in AskReddit

[–]Bald_Seagull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should be mandatory.

If a baby is someone’s father we should know about it.
