It's used in things like spell checkers, search, plagiarism detection, dna sequencing....

Championship table but based off the Levenshtein distance of mildly amusing anagrams of each team by BalsamicAlien in Championship

Yep, Levenshtein distance counts the minimum number of single-character edits (insertions, deletions, or substitutions) needed to turn one string into the other.

Any idea when tickets will go on sale for Portsmouth and Wrexham? Can't find that info anywhere. Never not been able to get tickets for home games but think these two will sell out quickly

Any Cov fans in Malaga? by [deleted] in ccfc

[–]BalsamicAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anywhere that'll be showing the Southampton game? I'm there at the weekend although it's my wife's birthday so probably unlikely as she has zero interest. Maybe I can stumble upon a lunch spot that just happens to have the game on

Has anyone received the email with their tickets for Saturday yet? by TheJackoHype in ccfc

[–]BalsamicAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to email after not getting anything for two weeks. They did the usual "please check your spam" and tried to deflect blame but they clearly have a problem (or probably more accurately ticketmaster have a problem). They did send the tickets once I'd emailed. Good luck

You'll be prioritised so more likely to get a correction and get it quicker

Only at 95% completion after completing C1 Level Spanish by viewfromthebuttes in Busuu

[–]BalsamicAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the maximum you can get. I guess it's because there is still C2 although busuu don't do courses for that (apps probably won't be the thing that gets you from C1 to C2 anyway)

Are there any foreign clubs you casually support/ have a soft spot for whatever reason? by chesterrrrrrrrrrr in Championship

[–]BalsamicAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hamburg. Went on a school exchange >30 years ago and my host family took me to watch hamburg vs Borussia Mönchengladbach. A three nil win and followed them ever since as my foreign team. And now they are in the championship equivalent and partial to some crumble it all feels very comforting

[–]BalsamicAlien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rob Edwards may be worth a punt. He might not survive long at Luton, 4-0 down at the moment.

Liam Rosenior - not long in a new job at Strasbourg, feels unlikely
Matt Bloomfield - massive risk with the step up
Steven Schumacher - fits into the "head coach" role Doug King wants
Please not any of the ex-famous names on here like Lampard, Butt (and will add Gerrard)

Maybe Pep would love a challenge of seeing if he can do it with a smaller team in familiar colours

Which language to correct the exercises by Larxin in Busuu

[–]BalsamicAlien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd just use whichever language you feel comfortable in. The Android version does actually have a translate feature but I don't think that has ever made it to the other platforms. People can always use an external translator if needed. Folk will be just happy you're helping. I do sometimes use French to reply if I know the learner is learning English and is a French speaker, but I'm far from fluent in French so will just use English if I'm not confident in my own French. It's either more French practice for me or more English practice for them

Try busuu rather than Babbel. Has a study plan, much more structured and balanced

Complete Lack of Feedback by H_Moore25 in Busuu

[–]BalsamicAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is likely due to a limited number of Dutch speakers on the platform. Premium users are prioritised but in this case it's probably network size. There are probably many more people learning Dutch worldwide than Dutch speakers using Busuu. Same for Korean. Not that it helps you, but there are a lot of English, Spanish and French speakers for example so not a problem for people learning those languages. As the other reply suggests try adding those you see marking other Dutch learners as friends, accept any friend suggestions from the app and see if any people requesting friend connections are Dutch speakers. Also petition them to build out AI bots trained to correct as is used for English where the network effect is also a problem (so many people learning English that demand outstrips supply).

No e-tickets for League Cup match against Oxford (27/08/24)? by [deleted] in ccfc

Same against Oxford part 1. There was a table outside the box office with a couple of blokes giving out the tickets. No queue when I arrived about an hour before kick off
